Liverpool John Moores Institution is a public research university that is also commonly referred to as LJMU. The Liverpool Mechanics’ School of Arts was established in 1823, which is the beginning of the institution’s history. In following years, the school evolved into what is now known as Liverpool Polytechnic. It was granted university status in 1992, at which point it changed its name to Liverpool John Moores University. Of particular note is the institution’s official membership in the Northern Consortium, University Alliance, and European University Association.

The Liverpool Students’ Union is the organization that serves as the representative body for the student body. In addition, pupils have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports. The university fields teams in a variety of sports, including badminton, volleyball, cycling, cricket, football, tennis, rugby league, rugby union, hockey, basketball, netball, swimming, and American football. It has produced graduates in a variety of disciplines, including the entertainment industry, athletics, politics, the media, and areas of government.
