Liverpool John Moores Institution is a public research university that is also commonly referred to as LJMU. The Liverpool Mechanics’ School of Arts was established in 1823, which is the beginning of the institution’s history. In following years, the school evolved into what is now known as Liverpool Polytechnic. It was granted university status in 1992, at which point it changed its name to Liverpool John Moores University. Of particular note is the institution’s official membership in the Northern Consortium, University Alliance, and European University Association.
The university’s three campuses—City Campus, I M Marsh Campus, and Mount Pleasant Campus—provide students with access to a variety of educational resources. Liverpool, England is home to the establishment. The city campus is home to a number of the institution’s most important buildings and departments. The Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Business are both located on the Mount Pleasant Campus. The Community, Education, and Leisure faculty are all housed on the I M Marsh Campus, which can be found in Aigburth. All three campuses have been updated with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
It does so through the institution’s five schools or faculties. More than 22,400 students were accepted into the university during the 2016–17 academic year, of which more than 18,300 were enrolled in the university’s undergraduate program and more than 4,000 were enrolled in the institution’s graduate program. This places the university as the 35th largest in the United States in terms of its total student population. In addition to this, it has a thriving student body of over 23,000 people, who come from over one hundred different nations throughout the world. In addition, there are 2,400 teachers available to provide instruction to the kids that are enrolled here. The university has over two hundred and fifty different degree programs, which helps it maintain its position as one of the most innovative and forward-thinking educational institutions in the country.
Aside from this, the institution manages to keep one library on each of its three campuses where it is located. Over 68,500 tangible resources may be found in the library collections of the LRCs, and there are over 1,600 workspaces that are open to students throughout the entire day. In addition, there are over 16,000 electronic books and 5,000 electronic journals that may be accessed there. The Liverpool Students’ Union is the organization that serves as the representative body for the student body. In addition, pupils have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports. The university fields teams in a variety of sports, including badminton, volleyball, cycling, cricket, football, tennis, rugby league, rugby union, hockey, basketball, netball, swimming, and American football. Other sports for which the university fields teams include swimming, rugby union, and American football. A significant number of the athletic teams take part in BUCS events.
Aside from this, the institution is proud to have such a robust alumni base, with former students holding positions in a wide variety of fields throughout the world. It has produced graduates in a variety of disciplines, including the entertainment industry, athletics, politics, the media, and areas of government. Caroline Aherne (actress and comedy writer), Rebecca Bisland (international footballer), Rachel Brown (famous goalkeeper for England’s national team of football), Stephen Crowe (composer), Martyn Bernard (famous high jumper), Stephen Byers (member of parliament), and Julian Cope are some of the notable graduates of this institution. Scholarship Offer:
- Students from Kenya and Turkey who intend to begin their studies at one of the United Kingdom’s higher education institutions during the academic year 2023–2024 will be eligible to receive a monetary contribution of ten thousand pounds (GBP) toward the cost of their master’s degree program tuition fees.
