To provide support for the Nigerian students, the University of Westminster in collaboration with the United Kingdom Government, and the British Council offers the GREAT Scholarship in Justice and Law for the academic year of 2022-2023.

The scholarship is intended for Nigerian students who want to start their Master’s degree in Law commencing in September 2022. The Nigerian students must be classified as international paying fee students. Interested students can start the scholarship application that can help them fulfill their educational journey and career goal in the United Kingdom. Eligibility 

Before proceeding with the scholarship the students must be able to meet the eligibility of the scholarship. The scholarship is for Nigerian students who are classified as international paying fee students and must be residing in Nigeria.

  • The students must be holding an offer for a full-time program in Master’s degree in Law commencing in September 2022 at the University of Westminster.
  • The students must be a freshman with a postgraduate degree at the university, students who already obtained their master’s degree are not eligible for the scholarship application, otherwise, it is stated in the international academic qualifications guide.
  • Applicants must have a 2:1 honors degree equivalent to the United Kingdom minimum GPA required.

Please keep in mind that the selection criteria for the scholarship will be based on the student’s academic and personal statements.

Application Process 

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must submit an application for admission. Then complete the GREAT Justice and Law Scholarship Application Form and submit your completed application form including all required supporting documents such as PDF attachments to [email protected].

You can only send ONE email with your application and other relevant required documents to support your application. The email header must include your 8-digit reference number and the full name of the grant you are applying and which country are you from. Once the university receives the application, you cannot re-apply or redo your application, keep in mind that the students must have an unconditional/conditional offer before applying to the scholarship to be considered.

Selection Process

As mentioned, the selection criteria for the scholarship will be based on the student’s academic and personal statements.

  • The scholarship offered will be limited and meeting the eligibility will not guarantee receiving the scholarship awards.
  • All eligible applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee.
  • Committee members recognize that candidates will have different skills, qualities, and experiences, so they will evaluate an equal consideration to academic background, personal circumstances, and answers to questions in the application form.
  • All applicants will be notified of the result of their application within 3 weeks after the deadline.

Personal Statement

The applicants must be able to outline in 500 words, why they think they deserve to receive the GREAT Scholarship and how the scholarship can help them achieve their goals and be able to contribute to the socio-economic in their home country?

Scholarship Award

The University of Westminster in collaboration with the UK government will be awarding the successful students with £10,000 tuition fee awards, the scholarship award will be paid directly to the university admission department.

The recipient of the award must read and agreed to the terms and conditions that apply for the scholarship award. The students who applied for the two-year master’s degree course will only be receiving a one-year award.

Scholarship Deadline 

The deadline to complete and submit the application is until June 13, 2022. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.

The scholarship will be offered annually to eligible Nigerian students.
