The Francis Regan Student Scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to a student who is enrolled at Flinders University in an Honours degree or Masters degree program in Business, Criminology, Government, or Law and who is working on a research project in any field related to social justice. Eligible students include those who are pursuing a degree in Business, Criminology, Government, or Law.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student who has shown a dedication to social justice concerns in some capacity, whether it be through paid or volunteer labor, academic pursuits, or other activities.

The fellowship was founded in honor of Professor Francis Regan, who served as a Professor of Legal Studies at Flinders University until his passing in 2009. Prior to his passing in 2009, Professor Regan taught at the university. A student who is working in the subject of social justice, an area to which Professor Regan was profoundly committed, will be awarded the scholarship that has been established thanks to the contributions made by his family, colleagues, and friends.

About the Scholarship Sponsor:

A second campus for the University of Adelaide was established in the suburb of Bedford Park thanks to a donation of about 300 acres of land from local residents in 1960. Possible land size is 150 acres. As a result, Flinders University came into being. Building started in 1962 after an initial year of preparation and planning. Upon gaining state power in 1965, the Australian Labor Party (ALP) was able to use election proceeds to buy land in Bedford Park and construct a university there. Having realized they had succeeded, they decided this was the best course of action. Since it opened its doors to its first class of students on July 1, 1966, Flinders University has been regarded as Australia’s preeminent academic institution. Matthew Flinders, a British explorer and geographer, is recognized for his efforts by having his name attached to this area. Until the passage of the University Act in the United States, universities and colleges could not legally operate. Only 400 students and 90 teachers showed up to class that cold March day in 1966.

Prominent scholars The first permanent occupants were Sir Mark Mitchell and Peter Karmel. This pair is the university’s inaugural Chancellor and Vice Chancellor. Flinders University’s main campus and its satellite campuses are situated in great spots around southern Australia. The main campus is situated in Bedford Park, some 12 kilometers from the heart of the city. Computer labs, study rooms, a library, and public areas with free wireless internet are just some of the places on campus where students can study, work, and learn. The football field, volleyball court, and basketball court all have easy access to the baseball diamond and softball field. Victoria Square, in the center of Adelaide’s business district, is a great place to focus on your education. The campus is the heart of any educational institution.

Flinders University also has a presence in the city of Tonsley, South Australia. Additionally to its main campus in Canberra, the University of Adelaide also has campuses in Melbourne and Darwin. In addition, it also has regional campuses spread out around the country. Flinders University offers courses in a wide variety of fields, including business, the arts, education, engineering, the health sciences, and public administration. Numerous colleges and universities around the globe make studying abroad possible. When it comes to the labor market, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia can all hold their own against China. More than 26,000 students and 2,600 faculty and staff call this university home. The institution is taking these steps to ensure that it will continue to be a part of the prestigious IRU (Innovative Research Universities) group (IRU)

The university has strong ties to institutions in Canada, China, the United Kingdom, and Germany, giving graduates access to graduate programs in those countries. Some of the most influential people in the world are Flinders University alumni. The outstanding television work of Mario Andreacchio was recognized with an Emmy award. He has experience on both sides of the camera, having worked as a producer and an actor. Alex Frayne is becoming well-known for his photographic and cinematic work. Although Noni Hazlehurst has found the most success on the big screen, she is also a gifted director and pianist. She has received awards from the Australian Film Institute (AFI) and the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) (ARIA).

The biopic Shine, about the life of singer David Helfgott and directed by Scott Hicks, took home the Academy Award for Best Picture. The plan and the operation were both Hicks’s brainchildren and his responsibility. Hicks did a lot more for the film than just create the script and direct the action. As the film’s executive producer, he was responsible for seeing it through to its conclusion. Hicks has done a fantastic job leading Tonga as prime minister. There is little doubt that Dr. Brendon Coventry has advanced the fields of immunology and surgery with his groundbreaking work. His work in identifying the immunological cycle is highly significant. Only he recognized he had found it. Christopher Pearson is a renowned journalist, therefore it should come as no surprise that his writing is popular. In addition to his many other accomplishments, he served as editor of “The Adelaide Review” and as a speechwriter for former Australian Prime Minister John Howard. In the course of his two professions, he learned an enormous amount.

Poet Sudesh Mishra has won numerous awards for his writing. Additionally, the important faculty and alumni are highlighted. You may find the online membership directory via a link on the main page. Adelaide is a wonderful jumping off point for weekend road trips because of its proximity to other major cities. This area is distinguished by its gentle mountains and golden sands. No feasible strategy exists for completing such trips. According to 2016 data from the Global Liveability Study, it is one of the top five best places to live in the world. This result was not entirely unexpected. Attracts many foreign students due to its low cost of living in comparison to other major cities across the world. Multiple reports state that compared to other major Australian cities, Adelaide’s cost of living is 14% lower. Since the cost of living has gone down in Australia as a whole, students now have more money to spend on Australia’s many cheap tourist attractions.
