Gabon is a country located on the west coast of Central Africa. It is home to a diverse range of cultures and languages and is known for its rich natural resources, including oil and timber. If you are considering studying in Gabon, there are a few things you should know:

  • Education in Gabon is free and compulsory for children between the ages of 6 and 16. The education system is divided into three levels: primary, secondary, and higher education.
  • There are several universities in Gabon, including the University of Gabon, which is the country’s main public university, and the University of Science and Technology of Masuku, which is a private institution.
  • The official language of Gabon is French, so it is important to have a good command of the language if you plan to study there. However, many other languages are spoken in Gabon, including Fang, Myene, and Bapounou/Eschira, so you may have the opportunity to learn one of these languages as well.
  • It is important to research the specific requirements for obtaining a student visa to study in Gabon. You will likely need to provide documentation such as a valid passport, proof of acceptance to a Gabonese educational institution, and evidence of sufficient funds to support your studies.

I hope this information is helpful as you consider studying in Gabon. If you are you looking for an opportunity to further your academic career and do not have the necessary funds? Are you a student from Gabon? You no longer have to worry. Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarships for Gabonese students are available.

  • Our WMF Empowerment through Education scholarship program has grown from just one scholarship in Ghana in 2005 to 52 WMF Scholars.
