Scholarship details
The Doctoral Research Grant is available to any and all doctoral research students who are allocated funds by their supervisors. For this grant, the maximum amount that any one student can get is RM500.00. This grant will require an application from the Supervisor, and it is contingent to SPS approval.
About the Scholarship:
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, or the Institution of Technology, Malaysia, is an open university that places a strong emphasis on research and is located in Skudai, which is in the state of Johor. Originally known as Treacher Technical School, the building later underwent a transformation into a college and welcomed 320 new students during the 1958–1959 academic year. The technical college transitioned into the technical institution in the year 1972. Finally, in 1975, the institution was given the status of a university, and two years later, in 1976, the government gave its approval to the university’s constitution.
The institution is comprised of three separate campuses, with the Skudai location serving as its primary campus. As the first university in the state of Johor, it provides higher education opportunities to students not only from inside Malaysia but also from other countries. The total land area of the campus is 11.48 square kilometers, making it the second largest public university campus in the United States. Part-time, diploma, undergraduate, and international students from other countries who are studying business at the institution’s branch campus may be found on Jalan Semarak in the city of Kuala Lumpur. Pagoh is the location of the new campus that was opened in 2017. The Research Management Centre at UTM was established in 1982 with the purpose of managing the many research and development endeavors.
The university’s three faculties—namely, engineering, science, and technology—are responsible for providing educational services to the student body. The university provides a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, many of which lead to professional certifications in their respective fields. Aside from this, it has a combined total of over 25,000 students that attend the institution either full or part time. Each year, the university provides educational opportunities to more than 5,000 students from over 120 different nations throughout the world. Students have access to a committed staff of more than 3,000 people who work together to provide a high-quality education for the students.
Additionally, the university runs a library known as the Perpustakaan Sultanah Zanariah. This library provides students and employees with access to many online resources. In addition, the institution makes available a number of services, such as a free bus facility and on-campus restaurants serving a variety of cuisines from across the world.
The student hostel provides a number of different sleeping arrangements for the students. In order to facilitate easier management, the dormitory buildings are subdivided into sections known as colleges. The university is comprised of a total of 12 colleges, each of which has a maximum enrollment of 17,500 students. Each college often has three or more dormitory buildings that are within its purview to manage. In addition to providing a place to sleep, these residential colleges also provide a variety of other services and amenities, such as a cafeteria, a place for Muslims to pray, a multipurpose hall, tennis courts, a convenience store, an internet and computer center, and a common room. Aside from this, the university has been quite successful in preserving a large number of its alumni. Recent college grads are making important contributions in a variety of fields across society.
UTM has a long-standing goal of being acknowledged as a leading university for entrepreneurial research on a global scale, and the institution is also planning to become an academic and technical hub of excellence. It is tasked with the responsibility of becoming a frontrunner in the cultivation of human capital as well as the development of innovative technologies that will contribute to the wealth creation of the nation.
