Who is Pat Tillman?

Pat Tillman, an American football star, made the courageous decision to enlist in the military following the terrorist attack on the United States in September 2001.

During one of his deployments, his unit was unexpectedly ambushed. In an act of heroism, Pat selflessly protected his fellow soldiers, enabling them to escape the dangerous situation. Sadly, Pat’s life was tragically cut short in April 2004 due to fratricide while serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan.

Although Pat’s death garnered significant attention during the War on Terror, his life, principles, and service truly define his lasting legacy.

In order to carry on that legacy, Pat’s family and friends established the Pat Tillman Foundation. Its mission is to provide military veterans and spouses who embody Pat’s principles with the necessary educational resources and support to fully develop their leadership potential, regardless of the path they choose to serve.
