The OAS was established in 1948 with the aim of achieving an order of peace and justice, promoting solidarity, strengthening collaboration, and defending sovereignty among its member states. The OAS has four main pillars: democracy, human rights, security, and development. One of the ways the OAS supports development is through its scholarship programs, which offer financial aid for studies in the United States and other countries.

The scholarship partner is the MIU City University of Miami, a private institution of higher education accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). MIU was founded in 2011 with the mission of providing quality education that is accessible, affordable, and innovative. MIU offers online and on-campus programs in business, engineering, computer science, and education, among others. Eligible Applicants

The eligible applicants for the OEA/MIU MBA Master Scholarship are students with nationality and/or legal permanent residence in any of the 35 independent states of the Americas that are OAS Member States. These are: Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

The applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • Have completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent prior to the start of the program.
  • Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent, in the last academic degree obtained.
  • Have intermediate to advanced proficiency in the language of instruction of the program (English or Spanish).
  • Not have received other academic scholarships from the OAS or from MIU for the same level of study.
  • Not be an OAS staff member or immediate relatives of an OAS staff member.

Scholarship Worth

The OEA/MIU MBA Master Scholarship is worth 20% of the total cost of tuition for the Master in International Business Administration (MBA) program at MIU City University of Miami. The scholarship is applicable only to the program of study and does not cover other fees or expenses, such as the initial fee, translation, notarization, authentication, study materials, procedures for obtaining the degree, or any other similar costs. The scholarship recipients are responsible for covering the remaining 80% of the tuition fees, as well as any other costs associated with their studies.

The total cost of tuition for the MBA program at MIU is $15,000 USD, which means that the scholarship recipients will pay $12,000 USD for the entire program. The program can be completed in 12 to 24 months, depending on the student’s pace and availability. The program is delivered online, which allows the students to study from anywhere in the world, without having to relocate or travel.
