About MOFCOM Scholarship
The MOFCOM Scholarship was established by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China with the aim of strengthening communication and cooperation between China and other countries and developing talent from developing countries.
Starting in 2015, the MOFCOM Scholarship will mainly encourage talents from the youth and middle class of recipient countries to continue their postgraduate education in China and direct the Scholarship Council of China to administer the scholarship.
Level/field of study
THE MOFCOM Scholarship for Developing Countries is open to the search for Masters’s and Ph.D. education. Each candidate can choose the same choice of three universities in the 26 designated universities.
Host nationality
THE MOFCOM Scholarship 2023 is hosted in China. Each candidate will be able to choose the same option they want in three of the 26 named universities. CSC will assign each applicant to only one college, depending on the option chosen and the colleges’ requirements.

Scholarship Worth
- Tuition waiver;
- exemption from didactic material fee;
- Research and survey fee exemption;
- Dissertation guidance fee waived;
- One-time resettlement fee:
3,000RMB per major student,
3,000RMB per Ph.D. student; - Housing on campus;
- stipend:
3000RMB per month for master students,
3500RMB per month for Ph.D. students; - Health insurance
- Single round-trip international airfare for all students (first flight to China after enrollment and return flight to the home country while graduating), and a maximum of “n-1” (“n” is for the duration of schooling) year that is established while the program enrolled the student) International round-trip airfare for home visits (once per year established at the end of an academic year).
MOFCOM 2023 Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible, the candidate must:
- Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and be in good health;
- Be a holder of a bachelor’s degree when applying for a master’s program;
- Master’s degree holder when applying for the doctoral program;
- Be under the age of 45 when you apply;
- Have sufficient proficiency in English or Chinese to meet the academic requirements of the program.
How to Apply for a MOFCOM Scholarship
Application Conditions (in Chinese or English)
- MOFCOM Scholarship Application Form;
- Photocopy of the highest diploma;
- Photocopy of academic transcripts;
- A study plan or research proposal with a minimum of 400 words;
- Photocopy of the foreigner’s physical examination form;

- Make sure you have submitted it online and printed the hard copy via www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or www.campuschina.org
MOFCOM Scholarship Deadline 202 3
The application deadline for the MOFCOM Scholarship for Developing Countries is April 30th annually. After which no further applications will be considered.
It starts on the 31st of May.
Important Notes: Scholarship winners must register for the English Teaching Program if such a program is available.
When only a Chinese-taught program is available, students are required to take Chinese-language training courses for one to two years before moving on to study for their degree.
Scholarship winners will receive the ECCO admission package from the Chinese Embassy at the end of August each year and must register with the host university before the deadline, which is usually September each year.
