If you can’t afford to study in places like the USA, Australia, and the UK, where tuition fees are high , you can study at Canadian Low Tuition Universities . It may interest you to know that some universities in Canada charge very low tuition fees for international students.

Today, I would like to provide an updated list of these low tuition colleges with their current tuition and contact information. But before we do that, I want us to take a look at the cost of living in Canada as a student.

What you need to know about Canada

Canada is a popular choice for international students who want to study in a different country. Universities in Canada offer world class education with affordable tuition fees. Known for its friendly nature, Canada is endlessly welcoming to international students . You’ll find high standards of research and teaching, as well as an excellent study experience in a beautiful and diverse country.

With high measurements in quality of life and education, Canada has been rated by the UN as one of the best places to live in the world. It is a developed country with a high-income economy and a successful government, making it a fantastic place to live and study.

Canadian visas

If you are an international student, you will need to apply for a study permit before coming to Canada. This acts in lieu of a visa and can be applied for through the  Government of Canada website or at the Canadian embassy or consulate in your home country.

A study permit will allow you to stay in Canada for the duration of your course, plus 90 days. Within these 90 days, you will need to apply to extend your stay or make plans to leave the country.

If you cannot finish your studies before the date of your permit for any reason, you must apply to extend your stay as a student. If you finish your studies early, your permit will become invalid 90 days after completing your studies, and this may be different than the original expiration date.

Canada odds

While Canada is known for its affordable tuition costs, the price you pay will vary depending on where you choose to study. On average, an international student can expect to pay anywhere from $17,500 per year to earn a college degree. A postgraduate degree will cost, on average, around $16,500 per year, with prices ranging up to $50,000 per year for the most expensive courses.

There will be other costs that you need to consider when budgeting. These include administration fees ($150-$500), health insurance (about $600), and application fees (not always applicable, but about $250 if necessary).

Cost of living in Canada

The cost of living refers to the amount of money that a person needs to cover their expenses, such as food, accommodation, transportation, etc. in a certain period of time. In Canada, a student needs approximately $600 to $800 per month for their living expenses. This amount will take care of expenses such as food, purchase of books, transportation, etc. Below is the cost of living in Canada for students:

  • Accommodation (one bedroom apartment) – approximately $400 per month.
  • Average restaurant meal – $10 – $25 per person
  • Movies – $8.50 – $13
  • Books and supplies – $1000 per year
  • Groceries – $150 – $200 per month

From this breakdown you can see that a student needs approximately $600 to $800 per month to live in Canada. Keep in mind that these figures are estimates, a student can live with less or more depending on her spending habits.
