Scholarship details
If you are interested in studying medicine abroad, there are a few things you should know. First, it is important to note that medical education in Germany is highly competitive and admission to medical schools is based on merit.
In order to be eligible for admission to a medical school in Germany, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as a good foundation in the natural sciences, including biology, chemistry, and physics.
In Germany, medical education is divided into two parts: the pre-clinical phase and the clinical phase. The pre-clinical phase typically lasts for three years and covers the basic medical sciences, including anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. The clinical phase typically lasts for three years and focuses on the practical application of medical knowledge.
Medical schools in Germany are generally highly respected and are known for their rigorous academic programs. However, it is important to note that medical education in Germany is longer than in some other countries, with a total duration of six or seven years. Additionally, the cost of tuition at medical schools in Germany can vary, with some schools charging higher fees than others.
The Bayer Foundation was founded with the aim to stimulate science and social innovation in order to create health for all and hunger for none. To achieve this, the Bayer Foundation instituted the Bayer Fellowships which offer exceptional possibilities for both professional and personal growth while fostering multidisciplinary contact and collaboration across boundaries and organizations.
The Bayer Foundation offers three scholarships for exceptional masters, Ph.D., and medical students to partake in international research projects and internships. These fellowships are intended to improve already-existing study programs by adding money for global experiences that complement ongoing or upcoming scientific research.
Students who are not based in Germany must spend their Fellowship periods there, whereas those who are based in Germany must do their Fellowship abroad.
The three fellowships offered by the foundation are;
- Otto Bayer Fellowships in Drug Discovery Sciences
- Jeff Schell Fellowships in Agricultural Sciences
- Carl Duisberg Fellowships in Medical Sciences
When qualified for a particular program, the fellowship actively welcomes applications from women, people from low and middle-income countries, people who work in Germany, and people who speak German as a second language.
