BACKGROUND

The Complutense University has a long tradition of collaboration with the community of Ibero-American countries that is reflected in the multitude of academic, research, and cooperation agreements, agreements, and initiatives developed with universities and institutions in these countries. The example with the longest history is the Escuela Complutense Latinoamericana, created in 2006.

Inter-university academic cooperation is a vocation that the UCM shares as a member of the Ibero-American Postgraduate University Association (AUIP), whose objectives include increasing the offer of scholarships and grants from its associated institutions that facilitate access to postgraduate programs and contribute to the internationalization and strengthening of the Ibero-American Knowledge Space (EIC).

Likewise, the UCM is committed to the incorporation of talent and the promotion of the acquisition of advanced training provided by official university master’s degrees, aimed at obtaining by students an academic or professional specialization that improves their opportunities for insertion in the professional field or initiates them in research tasks.

Within the framework of the corresponding specific university academic cooperation agreement between the UCM and the AUIP for the implementation of a postgraduate scholarship program, in order to achieve these objectives, in the exercise of the powers attributed to this University Organic Law 6/2001, on Universities, and the Statutes of the Complutense University of Madrid, approved by Decree 32/2017, of March 21, of the Governing Council of the Community of Madrid, and other applicable regulations, dictates this call for scholarships.

These scholarships are convened through the Vice-Rectorate for Students, in the application of article 8 of Rectoral Decree 1/2021, of January 11, 2021, establishing the Vice-Rectorates of the Complutense University of Madrid, a delegation of powers, and various matters of organizational nature (published in the BOCM on January 14, 2021). Consequently, the Vice-Rector for Students resolves this call for official master’s enrollment scholarships, in accordance with the following.

Linguistic scholarships in pre-mobility Colombia-France, 2022-2023

The Colombia-France pre-mobility language scholarships promote university academic mobility to France. The French Embassy in Colombia is pleased to launch the call for pre-mobility language scholarships to France. This call is aimed at students who contemplate academic mobility in France within a year, but who need to reinforce their linguistic level to reach the language levels required in the French courses contemplated.

These linguistic scholarships are complementary to the scholarships for studies in France financed by the French Embassy: scholarships from the Corporation for Studies in France (CEF), Colfuturo scholarships, and the two new scholarship programs launched in 2021: Academy of Talents and Women Scientific.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

These scholarships are aimed at students with a verifiable academic mobility project to France.

Candidates must have a French level from A2 completed to B2 not completed. These levels can be validated with a DELF, a TCF, or another. In case of not having proof of their level, the candidate will be summoned by the Alliance Française for a level test.

The selected candidates will start their courses between March 10 and 20, 2022 and could reach up to level B2 (according to conditions, exceptionally up to level C1 if it is a requirement of the host University).

The linguistic reinforcement courses will be applied in an Alliance Française in Colombia, at night or on Saturday mornings.

DURATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship is granted for an initial 40 hours and each module will be extended, month after month, subject to the fulfillment of five conditions:

NATIONAL BUDGET

The total budget available for the program is based on the composition of the groups at the national level

PREREQUISITES OF THE PROGRAM

Attend at least 80% of the class hours of the module (=32 hours/40 hours of the module)
Obtain a module grade equal to or greater than 3.5/5.0

No postponement of the course

Maintaining your mobility project to France is in force
Those selected must abide by the Alliance Française Student Regulations and the conditions of this call. For this, the candidates must fill out a written commitment (annexed model).

What benefits do the Colombia-France pre-mobility scholarships offer?

The scholarship covers the cost of the module (around $650,000 for each 40-hour module) as well as tuition ($184,000).

IMPORTANT NOTES

a. The selected candidates will only buy the book that corresponds to the levels they are studying.

b. The book must be original, although not necessarily new.

c. The scholarship considers a place in a French course at an Alliance Française in Colombia and is not convertible into cash, transferable, or deferrable, it is granted only once and does not constitute an acquired right. The scholarship could cover several modules until reaching the last sublevel of the B2 level course of the Alliance Française according to the conditions stipulated above.
