Young Leaders of the Americas (YLAI) in the USA offers a fellowship program for international students who can demonstrate their interest in the entrepreneurial world. The application is now open and the fellowship program is a fully-funded award that can help them enhance their skills and develop more knowledge in entrepreneurship.

About Young Leaders of the Americas Fellowship Program

YLAI enables entrepreneurs to fortify their ability to send off and propel their entrepreneurial thoughts and really add to social and financial improvement in their networks. In 2015, in excess of 1,000 YLAI Colleagues from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada extended their leadership and entrepreneurial experience through fellowships at organizations and associations across the USA.

Through the YLAI Entrepreneurial Leadership Curriculum and individualized proficient positions, YLAI Fellows have sped up their business and social endeavors’ prosperity and created explicit activities intended to execute upon return to their nations of origin. YLAI fellows build organizations, linkages, and enduring associations to draw in speculations and support for their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Inclusion of the Fellowship Program

  • Four weeks of professional placements in cities across America. The YLAI fellows will be gaining valuable skills and career developments in the USA entrepreneurial leadership which will be implemented by the successful fellows back in their home countries.
  • Leadership Curriculum, the fellowship program will include in-person and online coursework. The coursework is developed by the IREX and Arizona State University which combine technical training and leadership development.
  • Welcome workshop in the USA, YLAI team will meet the successful fellows in Houston upon arrival for a four days welcome conference.
  • Closing forum in the USA, the fellows will be participating in the closing forum in Washington D.C. and networking events with the social and business leaders and US Government representatives.
  • Closing forum in the USA, after the successful completion of the program, the fellows will continue to collaborate with the US partners and will be having an access to ongoing professional developments, mentorship, opportunities, networking, and alumni activities. The fellows will also have the chance to welcome the USA host to their home country.

About the Provider 

Established in 2015, the U.S. Division of State’s Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) enables arising business and social entrepreneurs from across Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and the US, to understand the full financial capability of the locale’s residents. Consolidating a yearly fellowship, a functioning online network, and proceeding with exercises coordinated by U.S. Embassies and Departments, YLAI cultivates thriving, comprehensive developments and majority rule values. In particular, YLAI tends to the opportunity hole for young individuals, particularly ladies, preparing them to change their social orders.

The YLAI Fellowship Program is a yearly exchange program for 280 young business and social entrepreneurs from 37 nations across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada, who are coordinated with organizations and associations across the US. Notwithstanding entrepreneurial leadership preparation, YLAI CFellows assembles new abilities, shares best practices, and manufactures business ties.

Eligibility 

The applicants will be considered without regard to color, race, religion,, gender, national origin, disabilities, or some other protected trademark as laid out by the U.S. Candidates with disabilities are qualified and urged to apply for the YLAI Fellowship Program. The YLAI Fellowship Program is available to young entrepreneurs who meet the accompanying eligibilities:

  • Must be the age of 25 to 35 at the time of application.
  • Be a resident of the eligible list of countries.
  • Must be eligible to accept a US J-1 visa.
  • Not a US permanent resident or citizen of the United States.
  • Not  a US government employee
  • Must have good communication skills in oral and written English.

Note:

  • The U.S. Department of State and it’s carrying out accomplice IREX maintain all authority to check all of the data rendered for the application. If there is an error, or data is viewed as false information, the application will promptly be proclaimed invalid and the candidate ineligible.
  • Applications that don’t meet the above technical eligibility necessities won’t be sent to the selection committee. If the chance that you don’t meet the technical eligibility for this program, YLAI will invite you to apply for the YLAI Networks and exchange program opportunities.
  • The reason for the application is to gather data and to more readily comprehend a candidate’s capabilities for the YLAI Fellowship Program. Questions are intended to catch the candidate’s professional foundation, experience with their own business or social venture, and English language proficiency. Selection Criteria 

The fellowship program is an open merit-based competition. Keep in mind that the applicants don’t have to pay to apply. After the application deadline, the selection committee will evaluate all the applications.

The selection committee will be evaluating the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate experience and knowledge in entrepreneurship.
  • Applicant’s commitment to the public service or their communities, volunteerism, and mentorship in their home country.
  • Applying their leadership skills, entrepreneurial, knowledge, and experience that contribute to their home country community.
  • Shown comprehension of how your own and professional objectives line up with program goals.
  • Shown leadership, an obligation to your association’s or alternately business’ prosperity, inspirational perspective, initiative, and diligence.

  • There will be written responses to essay questions and the answer must be unique or written on your own.
