Women In Stem Scholarship

The British Council’s commitment to nurturing female talent in STEM is evident in its comprehensive range of programs and initiatives. By providing targeted support, mentorship, and access to resources, the organization aims to bridge the gender gap and create a level playing field for women in STEM. Through strategic partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, and government bodies, the British Council facilitates networking opportunities and knowledge exchange, empowering women to overcome barriers and excel in their chosen fields.

For the academic year of 2023-2024, the British Council invites women in the eligible countries to apply for the Women In Stem Scholarship which covers a fully-funded award to provide them the assistance they need to pursue their master’s degree. The British Council is looking for women with a STEM background who can demonstrate their needs and support to further their higher education and inspire the future women generation to pursue their STEM careers.

The Women in STEM Scholarship enables successful candidates to receive a scholarship that will help them pursue their master’s degree in STEM at the leading university in the United Kingdom.

The Women in STEM Fellowship is intended for the Early Academic Fellowships available to women who have obtained a STEM Ph.D. in the past three years. Apply now to secure a Women in STEM Fellowship and advance your career in academia.

Scholarship Eligibility 

To be eligible for the scholarship the applicants must meet the following:

  • Eligible for academic year study in the UK from September/October 2023 – 2024.
  • Demonstrates a genuine financial need for support.
  • Holds an undergraduate degree qualifying for access to pre-selected postgraduate courses at a UK university (for Masters level) or completed all components of PhD in the last three years (for Early Academic Fellowships).
  • Capable of meeting the required English language proficiency for postgraduate study/research at a UK university.
  • Actively engaged in their field with relevant work experience or a proven interest in the subject area.
  • Exhibits passion for their chosen course of study and commits to actively participating as a British Council scholarship alumni.

Applicants who are not eligible: 

Applicants will not be eligible for the scholarship if:

  • You hold dual British citizenship.
  • A former emplopyee or relatives of an employee in Government (including British Embassies/High Commissions), the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the Ministry of Defence, or the Home Office.
  • You are an employee, former employee, or relative in any of the employee of the scholarship team of the British Council.
  • You have previously studied in the United Kingdom and altead receive a funds from the Government.

The appliocationmust be completed directlyu to the eligible participating universities, which can be found in the official website of the provider. Keep in mind that you cannot make more application, you can only choose one university.
