The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) provides scholarships for Washington State students seeking certification in high-demand Washington State industries. They provide the Baccalaureate Scholarship annually, while their Career and Technical Scholarship (CTS) runs three times a year.

If you are a Washington student, this is a scholarship opportunity for you.

The CTS scholarship is currently ongoing and, like all WSOS scholarships, provides funds that cover tuition and/or other fees.

The state of Washington is one of the US states with the fastest growing economies. Therefore, there are more business, health care, and ScienceTechnology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) jobs that the workforce cannot fill. WSOS, therefore, capitalizes on this need to provide funding to produce an adequate and better-quality workforce.

Short description

The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship provides funding for low and middle-income Washington students to enable them to pursue degrees, certificates, or apprenticeships.

However, they will acquire these credentials in high-demand fields of business, health care, or STEM. The scholarship will also prepare them to start careers in the state.

However, they will acquire these credentials in high-demand fields of business, health care, or STEM. The scholarship will also prepare them to start careers in the state.

WSOS aims to connect Washington’s leading industries with Washington’s top talent by lowering barriers to education and training. Therefore, by working collaboratively with state and industry partners, they are able to place low- and middle-income students in exciting careers.

At the end of the day, WSOS will have maximized the return on investment for the state while ensuring that the state’s strong economy continues to thrive.

Additionally, WSOS assists students with flexible financial aid funding, as well as student support services such as tutoring, professional development, and networking.

What to Know

The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship has up to 20,000 students on track to serve by 2025. Of this number, 57% are women, indicating that the scholarship appreciates more women taking up careers. Additionally, 67% of Scholars WSOS funds are for students of color.

Therefore, although the scholarship is available to a large number of Washington students, it is not biased by gender or race.
