Additionally, according to the Times Higher Education’s analysis of the 2021 National Student Survey results, the University of Strathclyde is ranked fifth in the United Kingdom in terms of overall student satisfaction. Each of the university’s four faculties – Science, Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Strathclyde Business School – collaborates closely with industry, government, and policy-makers, resulting in an enviable track record of applying technologies and innovation for the greater good. This relationship with industry has a significant impact on both research and taught courses, ensuring that academic staff and students remain at the forefront of their respective disciplines. Strathclyde University is a 5-star QS-rated institution that has been named University of the Year by Times Higher Education in 2012 and 2019 and Entrepreneurial University of the Year in 2013. In addition, the University has 21 subjects ranked in the top ten in the United Kingdom. In 2014, the University of Strathclyde Technology & Innovation Centre transformed the University’s research output, propelling the University into the top 20 most research-intensive universities in the United Kingdom, according to the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) report. The Physics department is the best in the United Kingdom, and the Electronic and Electrical Engineering department is the best in Scotland. In addition to the nearly 1,500 students who live in the campus village, there are another 400 who live in University housing that is within walking distance of the University.
