About the Scholarship Provider:

In addition to being the oldest and largest university in Finland, the University of Helsinki also has the title of “most prestigious” in the country. It comprises twelve faculties, including the arts, education, law, medicine, and science, with a total population of forty thousand people (including students and staff). It also houses numerous academic organizations devoted to study and discovery. All four of the University of Helsinki’s main campuses can be found inside or very close to the heart of Helsinki. The primary campus is located in the heart of the city, although they also have campuses in Kumpula, Meilahti, and Viikki. Many state-of-the-art facilities may be found on campus, including the National Library of Finland, which is widely recognized as the finest research library in the country.

Athletics, excursions, and regular social meetings are just some of the activities that the Student Organization (StudOrg) makes available to its members. More than two hundred and fifty separate clubs and societies, some academic and some recreational and social, make up the students’ union. The students’ union is also in charge of organizing events for the student body. Because of its status as a global research university, the University of Helsinki welcomes applications from students all around the world. Participation in an orientation week, which is required of all prospective international students, is a great way to get to know the school and the city of Helsinki. Your student mentor will assist you in settling in and getting started in your chosen field of study. This guide will help you get started in your studies as well.

Students at the University of Helsinki can choose from over 250 different student groups to get involved with throughout their time there. The university strongly encourages international students to get involved in extracurricular activities outside of the classroom, such as joining clubs and groups, to assist them in adjusting to life in Helsinki. International students have access to a variety of housing options, and the school is able to help them find secure accommodations in the neighborhood. Students studying in the United States also have access to a variety of housing options. All of our subsequent research and outreach activities will build upon this foundation.

Earning a degree from this prestigious European institution will put you in good company, as it has done so for the past 400 years, contributing to the growth of a society that is just and equitable in its treatment of its members and outside people. We are the largest educational institution in all of Finland, with over 40,000 students and staff members. As a group, we represent the top one percent of universities worldwide, and the solutions we propose will have far-reaching effects on the course of human history and the fate of our home planet.
