Loughborough University in the United Kingdom announces full-fee scholarships for international full-time taught postgraduate students who are currently domiciled (permanently resident) in Africa at the end of each year. The Loughborough University Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarships cover 100% of the course fees for a one-year postgraduate taught degree at Loughborough University (replacing any Departmental or Loughborough University scholarships or bursaries you may already have been awarded).

About the Scholarship:

The origins of Loughborough University may be traced back to a modest technical institute founded in 1909. Originally, Loughborough University of Technology solely offered technical education, such as art and science. In 1996, the university was given its current name. There are currently 22 academic schools and departments, over 100 research groups, institutes, and centers, and over 35 professional services and teams at the institution. Loughborough University’s campus is the UK’s largest single-site green campus, and it is widely considered as the best in the country for sports, having been voted Sports University of the Year by the Times Good University Guide on many occasions. The WhatUni? Student Choice University of the Year and top place in the THE Student Experience Survey are two more recent honors. Loughborough University prides itself on being welcoming to all, with students, graduates, and staff at the center of the university’s operations. “Every student has the opportunity to fulfill their full potential,” according to the Student Experience at Loughborough. These chances are boosted by strong relationships to industry, both locally and internationally. For overseas students, Loughborough University offers a complimentary airport pickup service at various times leading up to the start of the academic year. The International Office hosts an introductory event for new international students at the start of each semester to introduce them to university life and important departments. There are also ten-week pre-sessional English classes offered before the start of the semester. Loughborough University has been named the UK’s Best Student Experience for the past ten years by Times Higher Education, and the University has also been given a 5* for Internationalization by the QS Stars Scheme. According to the Lloyds Bank Survey, it is also the best institution in the UK for student life quality and a past ‘University of the Year’ for Sport. Loughborough University is a top ten UK university for research standards, with a 37 percent rise in the proportion of the university’s research that is regarded “world-leading” following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. Only Loughborough University and the University of Oxford have won the renowned Queen’s Anniversary Prize seven times for outstanding applied research.

The university campus is 440 acres in size and is located in the heart of Loughborough, England.   The campus features a world-class infrastructure that includes large lecture halls, a well-stocked library, well-equipped laboratories, an extensive IT network, a conference center, superb housing, and the Loughborough Students’ Union. There is also an arts center, a bank, a health center, two theatres, restaurants, and a few stores at the campus. It also provides good sports facilities for the pupils. In London, the university also operates a postgraduate campus. For the facilities they provide, both campuses have received numerous accolades and rankings.  Accountancy, finance, engineering, sciences, architecture, business, computer science, management, mathematics, languages, sports, economics, arts, social sciences, media, and psychology are just a few of the undergraduate, doctorate, and postgraduate degrees available at Loughborough University. There are around 17,000 students and 3,700 employees at the university. It is a part of UNITECH International, a well-known international academic network, and collaborates with a number of international institutions, including MIT, IIT Delhi, and Nanyang Technological University. Many financing agencies and sponsors, such as the Brunei High Commission, the Libyan Embassy, the Oman Cultural Attaché Office, and the Chevening Organization, have strong ties to it. The institution provides students with the skills and knowledge they need to improve their employability while also providing them with numerous excellent employment options.  Loughborough University has a sizable alumni base. In 169 countries, there are more than 178,000 alumni. Sir Peter Bonfield was the former CEO of the BT Group. Lord Sebastian Coe is an Olympic athlete and the current world marathon record holder. Paula Radcliffe is the Head of Vehicle Performance for the Williams Formula One team and a former race engineer for Rob Smedley. Malcolm Sayer is a well-known automobile and aircraft designer. Rosalind Ayres is a well-known actress in the United Kingdom. Tanni Grey-Thompson is a former wheelchair racer who is now a television presenter and Welsh politician.
