Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia offers a scholarship for both Master’s and Ph.D. degree students who want to further their higher education abroad. The International Research Training Program (iRTP) and Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) will be offered for the academic year of 2023-2024. The scholarships will be tenable for up to two years with a fully-funded award to provide assistance to exceptional students who can demonstrate their motivation to further their higher education and academic excellence.

About the Scholarship Scheme: International Research Training Program scholarship (iRTP) and International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship Program  (iMQRES)

International Research Training Program scholarship (iRTP)

  • International Research Training Program is the Commonwealth Government in Australia’s scholarship scheme to assist international research students. The scheme is being administered by individual universities in Australia in cooperation with the Department of Education Skills and Employment. The application process for this scholarship scheme is a direct application to the university.

International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship Program  (iMQRES)

  • Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) is one of the scholarship programs aiming to support research students who are admitted to research field areas aligned with the Strategic Framework of the Macquarie University-Changing Impact. The candidates who will be applying for the iRTP scholarship will be automatically considered for the International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship program (iMQRES).

Scholarship Eligibility 

Before proceeding with the application, the students must meet the eligibility of the scholarship.

  • The applicants must be international students and not permanent residents of Australia and New Zealand.
  • Applicants must be planning to be admitted in a Master of research for two years and or, a Doctor in Philosophy for the academic year of 2023.
  • Must be willing to reside in Sydney, Australia during the scholarship year.
  • Must have good communication skills in oral and written English, and must meet the English Language requirements of the university before the application deadline.
  • The applicants must be able to meet the admission criteria of the Masters for Research of Ph.D. in Philosophy for the academic year of 2023.
  • Must be able to have a valid visa that allows you to further your study in Australia.
  • Must be holding a confirmation of supervision at an eligible Macquarie University researcher.

Selection Process

The Macquarie University offers accessible awards to qualified applicants as per the MQ Research Training Scholarship Strategy, and the Macquarie University HDR Scholarship Rating Criteria.
