To support the outstanding international students to achieve their degrees without worrying about financial barriers, the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom offered the International Ph.D. Studentship in Psychology for the academic year of 2022-2023. The scholarship will be covering three years of study expenses of the successful international students who will be pursuing their Doctoral Degrees in Psychology for the commencement date of October 2022 at the University of Plymouth.

Ph.D. Studentship in Psychology

The University of Plymouth wants to award the successful students with a fully-funded scholarship award for up to three years and be part of the vibrant, large, and highly collaborative Ph.D. student community and academic staff. Successful Ph.D. students can gain an access to extensive and modern well-equipped facilities and laboratories and will be supported by the dedicated team of technical staff and will be held at the newly constructed build BRIC or Brain Research and Imaging Center at the University.

The newly built Brain Research and Imaging Center at the University is one of the most advanced facilities in the South West that provides an enhanced quality of research. It is consist of seven cutting-edge laboratories in research.

Research at the school covers a wide range of topics in areas such as knowledge, learning, memory, development, health, emotions decision-making, neuroscience, and social psychology.

Applicants are strongly advised to discuss their proposal/plan with the intended supervisor before writing the proposal and applying. Schools may only consider proposals in areas where the university has experienced addressing an issue.

Eligibility

Before proceeding with the application process, interested students must check the eligibility of the award below:

  • Must have a first-degree honor related to the project MSc or MRes qualifications.
  • Good communication skills in oral and written English.

Application Process

Before you start your application, make sure of the research program you are applying for. You have to register for a program called; for example, dr. Robotics, ResM Arts, Design and Architecture, MPhil Psychology, and others. Just search for a Ph.D. on the graduate application page. (program title), ResMed (program title), MPhil (program title), Ph.D. in Business Administration, etc. to start the application process. After registering, please fill in the online application form and upload the required documents

There are three admissions per year, with program start dates being October 1 (end of September for programs with compulsory teaching modules), January 1, and April 1.

If you are an international candidate, make sure you apply four and a half months before the start date of your chosen program. For local applicants, the application deadline is two and a half months before the desired program start date. Applications received outside this deadline will be considered for subsequent admissions

To support the scholarship application students must submit the following:

Additional Requirements

(For all candidates) Two verified academic references will be required. Recommendations, regardless of the applicant, must be sent directly by the assessor to [email protected]. Only references from professionals or academic email accounts can be accepted by email.

(For university applicants) Please note that some research students at universities may have special admission requirements in addition to the standard requirements listed above, e.g. B. cover letter; Please read the information regarding your chosen project carefully to ensure you are submitting the correct supporting documents.

All students will be required to submit a research proposal (1000 words) with your application. Your research proposal should include a brief review of the relevant literature, research questions/hypotheses, a review of methods, and a timeline (must all be included in the word count; maximum 1000 words). The proposal must also identify the proposed manager and include a list of reference data (not included in the word count).

Scholarship Total Value 

The University of Plymouth will be awarding the successful students up to three years of fully-funded tuition fees and a stipend amounting to up to £16,062 per annum. The Scholarship will fully support eligible applicants for home contributions with appropriate qualifications. Applicants who are normally required to pay international fees must pay the difference between their home country tuition fees and international tuition fees of approximately £12,670 per year, 2022/23 rates.
