The University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China offers the Ph.D. Electrical and Electronic Engineering Scholarship in Low Dimensional Materials for Intelligent Sensors for the academic year of 2022-2023, the scholarship aims to motivate the students to pursue their Ph.D. degree in China and to support them throughout their educational journey to higher degrees.

Ph.D. Program Structure at the University of Nottingham in China 

The doctoral program at UNNC consists of 3 years of research and 1 year of pending dissertation for full-time Ph.D. students. Full-time Ph.D. students are expected to submit their dissertation within a maximum of four years from initial registration.
Upon successful completion of the doctorate, students receive a doctorate degree from the University of Nottingham. The certificate of completion gives no indication of where the course was completed. The University of Nottingham Ph.D. is accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education and the UK Quality Assurance Agency.

Scholarship Eligibility 

  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree with a minimum grade point average of 65% and an achievement grade or higher from a UK university. Applicants must also have a bachelor’s degree in the upper second grade or above. Applicants from institutions that use different evaluation systems must have equal performance.
  • The Faculty of Science and Engineering will also consider applicants with a first-class honors bachelor’s degree from a UK university or its equivalent from another reputable institution.
  • Applicants must also have the required level of English for the relevant subjects.
  • Research proposal quality and potential and attitude.
  • Must have good academic merits.
  • When filling out the application form, the applicants must provide their grades/final results in the form of your previous college where they studied, for example, 4.0/5.0, 7.5/10, 10/12, etc. (no need to convert it to the UK equivalent).
  • Applicants with other international qualifications must meet the equivalent of the UK minimum entry requirements.

Application Process 

Interested students must be admitted at the online application portal provided by the university. There will be no separate application needed for the scholarship program.

Required Documents 

As part of the admission and application process, candidates are required to submit the following documents to support their application to the university.

  • Photo/Identity card or Passport copy
  • Personal Statements
  • Curriculum Vitae or Resume
  • Scanned copies of graduation certificates and diplomas for completion of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • Chinese applicants who earned their degrees overseas or in Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Macau must also submit a certificate from the China Service Center for students Exchange.
  • Applicants must submit their transcript of records with grades for all undergraduate and postgraduate modules/study programs as well as their certified translation into English. It should include the final grade, or GPA, which the school typically uses to assess a candidate’s academic achievement.
  • When you complete the application form, you must designate two reviewers who can provide academic recommendations in English to support the application.

All awards will be covered for up to 36 months. The beneficiary of the awards must provide satisfactory progress to maintain the scholarship and failure to meet the ongoing eligibility will terminate the scholarship awards.

Scholarship Deadline 

The deadline to complete and submit the application requirements is until June 10, 2022. Late and incomplete applications will be automatically rejected.
