Legal education is provided by the Columbia Law School, also known as Columbia Law or CLS. This school is a part of Columbia University, a private Ivy League institution that is located in New York City. Because it is continuously recognized by U.S. News & Globe Report as one of the top five law schools in the United States, Columbia Law School has earned the reputation of being one of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning devoted to the study of law anywhere in the entire world. It is especially well-known for its expertise in business law as well as its ability to place students in the nation’s top law firms. Additionally, it has an excellent reputation. Columbia Law School is widely regarded as one of the most renowned legal educational institutions in the United States.

Since its founding in 1858 as the Columbia College Law School, the Columbia Law School has been famous for the caliber of the legal scholarship it has generated ever since the 18th century. This tradition dates back to when the school was known as Columbia College. Early American legal figures such as John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States, and Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury, both of whom were co-authors of The Federalist Papers, were graduates of the university’s colonial predecessor, King’s College. Jay was the first chief justice of the United States, and Hamilton was the first Secretary of the Treasury. Both of these men were also co-authors of The Federalist Papers. The first President of the United States, James Madison, as well as the first Attorney General of the United States, John Marshall, both attended and graduated from King’s College. Other prominent early American legal personalities who attended and graduated from King’s College include:

Among the distinguished alumni of Columbia Law are former United States Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as well as nine justices of the United States Supreme Court, numerous members of the United States Cabinet and presidential advisers, members of the United States Senate, members of the United States House of Representatives, governors, and more members of the Forbes 400 than any other law school in the world.

According to the disclosures that Columbia Law School was obligated to make by the ABA for its Class of 2021, 98.3 percent of the graduates of that year’s graduating class found work within ten months of getting their degrees. This information was disclosed for the Class of 2021. Starting base earnings for graduates all came in at $205,000. This figure represented the 25th percentile, the median, and the 75th percentile. Since 2014, this law school has continued to top the “Go-To Law Schools” list published annually by the National Law Journal, remaining in the number one spot throughout that time. This ranking is determined by the percentage of a school’s graduates who are successful in finding work in one of the top one hundred law firms in the United States.
