MSc Statistical Ecology 

University of St Andrew School of Mathematics and Statistics will be hosting the Centre for Research in the Ecological and Environmental Modelling. The Center for research is an interdisciplinary research center at the University bringing together researchers from the schools of mathematics and statistics, computer science, biology developments, and biology. The main task is to develop and apply modern mathematical and statistical methods to practical problems in ecology, biology, and geography.

The center is divided into research units, some of which are housed in purpose-built facilities at the old university observatory, while others are housed in individual schools. One of these units is dedicated to conducting assigned studies and consulting. They have an active seminar program and welcome visitors for research. The observatory also has specially designed classrooms and computer classrooms, in which they regularly hold training seminars for practitioners.

The master’s degree in statistical ecology is taught by CREEM staff, and the research dissertation element of the program leverages CREEM’s connections with researchers around the world to provide students with the opportunity to contribute to the solution of today’s real-world problems related to the statistical ecology.

Scholarship Criteria 

The school is pleased to announce that they have several scholarships to cover tuition fees for selected successful candidates. They have the international equivalent of 2 or 4 home tuition fee waivers and students are selected based on a number of criteria including but will not be limited to:

  • Preferences for the applicants from the developing countries as defined by the UN.
  • Preferences for applicants with good academic records.
  • Must have a good record or background utilizing the statistical ecology methods in the past work.
  • The applicants who can demonstrate the MSc impact on any related issues in the statistical ecology.
  • Must have good communication skills in English.
  • Be admitted for the academic year of 2022-2023.

Application Process 

The scholarship process can be made through the online portal provided by the university. Interested applicants can access the application system after being admitted to the university. As part of the application process, the applicants are required to submit a personal statement in which they have to outline their criteria and how it relates to the qualification of the scholarship program, personal statements must also provide details that can support your applications.

International applicants must have good communication skills in oral and written English, all subjects will be taught in the English language.

Scholarship Award

The University of St Andrew will award the deserving students a full tuition fee coverage for one year. The beneficiary of the awards must read and agreed to the terms and conditions applied to the scholarship.

The Awarded Students Must: 

  • Meet all the conditions of the scholarship program, and any other terms and conditions applied.
  • Must be registered for the courses related to the scholarship.
  • The awards are non-transferable and cannot be deferred.
  • Must be able to provide additional documents to the university.

To continue the awards, the students must: 

  • Be fully enrolled at the University of St Andrew.
  • Meet and continue the eligibility requirements of the scholarship.
  • Must be able to meet the academic requirements of the awards, be able to attend classes, and seminars, and can contribute to the activities at the university.
  • Must be active on the interactions towards other students.

The University will process and collect the student’s personal data in order to administer the scholarship award application and administer the award procedure. This may include the transmission of personal data to the sponsor of the awards or an equivalent person for the sole purpose of administering and monitoring the prize in accordance with the sponsor’s terms. The university also monitors grant applications for financial compliance and can conduct evaluations for equality purposes.

The deadline to complete and submit the scholarship application is until April 29, 2022. The scholarship awardee will be announced by May 28, 2022.
