The McGill Library and the McGill School of Information Studies (SIS) joined together in providing the Master of Information Studies (MISt) Fellowship Program intended for Black people who want to further their higher education for the academic year of 2023-2024.

The Master of Information Studies (MISt) Fellowship Program will provide tuition fee assistance and a librarian position to successful students for up to two years. The Master of Information Studies (MISt) is an advanced degree program which requires for the professional librarian position. Two students will be awarded the fellowship position.

The successful fellows must check all the information needed to apply for the fellowship program. An opportunity to further their education and at the same time a position to let their knowledge and skills develop more on their chosen career paths.

Scholarship Eligibility 

Before proceeding to the application process, interested students must meet the eligibility and admission criteria of the fellowship program. Please keep in mind that admission to the Master of Information Studies (MISt) is competitive and applicants must meet the minimum requirements outlined below:

  • Applicants must have an academic standing of at least 2nd class or B, upper division with a GPA of 3.0.
  • The applicants must be a graduate of a recognized institution or university and hold a bachelor’s degree with a recognized reputation.
  • The School will consider the personality of candidates’ post-optional examinations and their reasonableness for a profession in data-related fields.
  • Graduate courses in the library or potential data concentrate taken in a school with a program not certified by the American Library Affiliation can’t be acknowledged as credit toward the McGill School of Data Review Fog program.

Language Requirements

The fellows will receive a tuition fee award for up to two years and will also be receiving a week-paid position at McGill Library during their academic year. The current pay rate will be $21.78 per hour.
