The Folds of Honor Foundation was formed by US Major Dan Rooney, who was an F-16 fighter pilot at the time. The foundation was born out of his empathy and his efforts to honor and reward the efforts of fallen American uniformed men by giving and giving in some way to his family’s Folds of Honor Foundation.

This happened after they returned from SAUDI ARABIA with the remains of a fallen hero; Corporal Brock Bucklin. The emotions and tears raised by the deceased family were what stimulated his action.

Folds of Honor Scholarship Application: How to Apply for the Children’s Scholarship Fund

• Print the Children’s Fund Scholarship Checklist found here and obtain all required documentation.
• Use the  fohscholarships.communityforce.com tool  (bookmark the home page!) and scroll to the bottom of the page to create a new account (or sign in if you’ve already created an account).
• Click on the Children’s Fund Scholarship Application to start a new application (only start one application per academic year).
• If you have more than one student applying for the scholarship with the same email address (account), the following popup will be very important to you. This feature will allow you to “name” the app so you can more easily track it when you sign in to your account. (For example, Duke’s app and the next one you launch might be called Brian’s app.)
• Start with the first section; 1 CF applicant information.
• Continue through the sections until you reach the end of the application.
• On your dashboard (the page that displays icons for all sections), there is a dropdown menu in the top right corner that says Choose Action. Click the dropdown menu and select Preview Application. This feature will allow you to view the entire application you just completed, section after section.
• Review the answers you have provided OR click the printer icon in the upper right corner of the page to print a copy of the application. * This view does not show uploaded documents! Please be sure to check them separately to make sure they are the information you intend to upload.
• Once you are satisfied that you have completed the application, return to your dashboard. In the upper right corner, next to the Choose Action dropdown menu, click the red Final Review and Submit button.

Scholarship Worth:

Recipients of this unsatisfied scholarship will receive scholarships of up to $5000 per academic year.

Folds of Honor Higher Education Scholarship

The Ribbons of Honor Higher Education Scholarship program was established to provide college or post-secondary educational assistance to children, spouses, wards, and dependents of fallen or disabled US military members.

Especially those of them who have finished their secondary education or higher and are ready to enroll in a university.

Level/Field of Study:

The Fold of Honor Higher Education Scholarship is specially designed for fallen and disabled military dependents in the United States.

It is packaged for those seeking a first bachelor’s degree, which could be high school students concurrently enrolling in college courses or undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in a community college, university, or university; certificate/license / technical program. No particular field of study is specified for this scholarship.

Host Eligibility:

The Higher Education Scholarship Fund is organized and housed for dependents of fallen or disabled heroes in the United States.

Eligible Nationality:

Unmet Need for Scholarships Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about the unmet need scholarship collected from the official website of the scholarship.

All scholarship offers from the previous academic year have been granted. The application window for the 2022 academic year will open on February 1 and close on April 1. Be careful with the space to apply.

“Unmet Need,” as defined by Folds of Honor, is the portion of your tuition, fees, on-campus housing (Higher Ed), on-campus dining plans (Higher Ed), and textbooks required for the term that are not are covered by other sources of awards or financial aid.

Unmet need scholarship requirements dictate that a 2.0 grade point average is required for each term. If the GPA for the term falls below 2.0, you will be placed on academic probation with FoH. You will still be awarded the second half of the scholarship, provided you complete the requirements for the registration process.

However, you will need to provide us with another transcript at the end of the next term to show that your GPA has improved to 2.0 or better in order to be eligible to be considered for the 2022 academic year. Please watch for an email from FoH with more details.

If you have a GPA of 2.0 or below for two consecutive terms, your scholarship will be revoked and you will not be eligible to reapply with FoH until you can maintain a GPA of 2.0 for 2 consecutive terms.

The Unmet Need Scholarship cannot be used for the following: Off Campus Housing (any housing NOT billed through the Treasurer), Housing or Greek Dues, Computers (Accessories), Special Field Examinations (Nursing, Teaching), student insurance (usually more than $1000), fees from the previous semester (year), parking/transportation passes, sports tickets, credits/dollars to the bookstore/campus, application fees, etc.

Some of the changes include:

* If a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, we will extend to the next business day.
*The deadline is now 6:00 pm EST so we can be in the office to serve you as the deadline approaches.
* Recipients 18-19: shorter application.
* Pre-qualification questions to better determine eligibility and type of application.
* Children’s Fund: We are no longer able to support homeschool applicants.
*Higher Education: Awards are limited to 4 academic years (previous years awarded will be counted).
* Higher Education: Part-time (less than 12 hours per semester) awarded at half – $2,500 per academic year.

If additional information is needed after our review of the application, we will contact you via the email registered in the application account.
