The government of Finland offers its  Finland Scholarship program for masters in English at different universities in the country.

The Finland Scholarship is a program of the government of Finland that seeks to finance master’s education for international students. Therefore, your goal is to nurture talents and launch professional careers upon graduation.

Before anything, those interested should look for the desired study program and check if it is eligible for the Finland Scholarship. Subsequently, you must complete your admission process and during this apply for the scholarship.

Universities in Finland Eligible for Masters Scholarships

The scholarships are intended for international master’s degrees, in other words, master’s programs that are taught entirely in English. In total there are 13 universities eligible for this program:

  5. Aalto University
  6. University of Lapland

  10. University of the Arts Helsinki

  13. University of Vaasa

Eligibility criteria for the Finland Scholarship program

The main eligibility criteria for this scholarship is that they are aimed at foreign students outside the European Union and the European Economic Area. Likewise, the interested party must:

  • Be  accepted into an  eligible master’s program at one of the above universities
  • Have the certified level of English required by the study program
  • Have an excellent academic record
  • Fulfill the visa and residence permit requirements in Finland

Additionally, there may be other specific requirements depending on the destination university.

Benefits of the Master’s Scholarship Program in Finland

All base master’s scholarships feature:

  • Exemption from tuition payment during the first year
  • A relocation grant of at least €5,000
