About the provider:
The University of Amsterdam is a public university that was founded in 1632. The city center campus, the Roeterseiland Campus, the Amsterdam Science Park, and the Academic Medical Center are the four campuses that make up the university in the Netherlands. More than 30,000 students attended the university last year. With the exception of Swiss and Surinamese students, tuition at the Dutch institution is greater for students from non-European Union and non-European Economic Area nations. The institution sets aside a number of rooms in dormitories run by outside housing organizations for overseas students.

Eligibility for Scholarship
The ASF Selection Committee, which is made up of representatives from the ASF sponsors and an independent chair, reviews all of the applications and recommends to the ASF Board which students should be awarded a scholarship.
You must meet the following standards in order for the ASF Selection Committee to examine your scholarship application:
- You must have applied for a position at AUC as well. AUC admission is a distinct procedure. See the links on the left-hand menu for further information about applications and admissions. ASF scholarships are only available to AUC students.
- Your family’s income must be below the poverty line (see below).
ASF Scholarships are provided on the basis of academic achievement and financial necessity. The ASF Selection Committee chooses applicants for scholarship recommendations based on the following criteria:
- Excellent academic performance. These are regarded as a measure of your intellectual ability. Please keep in mind that the ASF Selection Committee will not examine your AUC application and will only know your average secondary school grade (GPA). If you wish to tell the Committee more about your school grades and intellectual abilities, please sure to include it in your motivation letter. This space can also be used to explain why, despite your current low marks, you believe you will perform well at AUC.
- Strong desire to attend AUC to study liberal arts and sciences. Your letter of motivation will be scrutinized by the ASF Selection Committee for this.
- Your extracurricular successes and activities connected to AUC are equally important to the ASF Selection Committee. Not only your own achievements, but also your communal or societal contributions, as well as your (possible) leadership profile and talents. Make sure to mention these in your motivation letter.
- Students from non-Western backgrounds and first-generation university students are strongly encouraged to apply.
- A financial requirement. In other words, describe why receiving a scholarship is vital to you in your motivation letter.
