The Individual Travel Grant: A Funding Opportunity for Students Who Want to Go Abroad for Study, Internship, or Research

Are you a student who wants to go abroad for a study programme, internship, or research project and you are not eligible for an Erasmus or Holland Scholarship grant? Do you have a strong academic record and a keen interest in your chosen field of study? Do you need some financial support to pursue your academic goals? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you might be interested in applying for the Individual Travel Grant from the Radboud University.

The Individual Travel Grant is a funding opportunity that the Radboud University offers every year to students who want to go abroad for a study period that is relevant to their degree. The grant is intended as a compensation for the extra expenses that students have when they go abroad, such as tickets, visa, accommodation rental, and vaccinations. The grant is available for students who choose and arrange their own study programme at an accredited educational institution abroad.

The grant is worth 200 euros per month for a stay within Europe, and 300 euros per month for a stay outside Europe. The amount of the grant that students ultimately receive will be calculated based on the number of days of their study-related stay abroad. The grant is awarded for a minimum of two months and a maximum of four months of full-time or part-time study abroad.

The grant is intended to encourage and facilitate students who want to broaden their academic horizon and enrich their personal and professional development by going abroad. The grant also aims to foster goodwill and understanding between the Radboud University and its international partners, as well as to enhance the reputation and influence of the Radboud University as a leading university in education and research.

The grant is open to applicants who meet the following criteria:

• They are enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s or master’s programme at the Radboud University.

• Their exchange programme will last for at least two consecutive months.

• Their exchange programme is abroad.

• They are not receiving any other bursary or scholarship from the Radboud University or another organisation.

• They will be earning course credits.

• They have not yet received an Individual Travel Grant or Holland Scholarship for study, internship, or research during their current study cycle.

• They will be leaving in more than two weeks.

To apply for the grant, applicants do not need to submit a separate application form. They will be automatically considered for the grant once they have confirmed their place at the host institution. The applications will be assessed by an independent panel of experts from the relevant faculty, who will select the most deserving and motivated candidates. The successful applicants will be notified by email by 31 August 2024.

The Individual Travel Grant is a valuable opportunity for students who want to go abroad for study, internship, or research and benefit from the excellent teaching and research at the host institution. The grant not only covers part of the travel costs, but also provides access to the facilities and resources of the host institution, as well as opportunities to network and participate in events and activities. The grant also contributes to strengthening the ties between the Radboud University and its international partners, as well as promoting the role and reputation of the Radboud University as a global university.
