The PhD applicant will focus on projects to examine galaxy evolution through the enrichment of metals and gas-flows at the fringes of high-redshift galaxies. This will be done in order to better understand how galaxies evolve through time. As part of the PhD study, data on quasar absorption lines will be gathered from the VLT, and the student will also take part in the process of producing spectral analyses of quasars for an impending major spectroscopic survey. Processing and analyzing the data from observational imaging and spectroscopy, as well as maybe analyzing the results of numerical simulations, are required for the project.

Eligibility for Scholarship.
- In order to qualify for the integrated scholarship, you will need to have graduated from a degree program that is comparable to a master’s degree in Denmark (180 ECTS/3 FTE BSc + 120 ECTS/2 FTE MSc). This degree program should be in a field that is related to the topic of the research project, such as astronomy or astrophysics.
- You are currently enrolled in one of the master’s programs in physics or astrophysics offered by the faculty, or you are eligible to become enrolled in one of these programs.
- Students who opt to participate in the integrated program will complete their studies in this MSc degree program in addition to enrolling in the PhD program at the same time.
