About the Company
The Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) was established 100 years ago, in 1911. AGSA is the supreme audit institution of South Africa, whose job it is to audit and not report the spending of South African taxpayers’ money by the South African government.
AGSA’s partners include the following organizations: Association of Certified Public Accountants (ACCA); South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA); South African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA); The Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
The AGSA is dedicated to furthering South Africa‘s transformational aspirations, striving to promote B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) codes of practice.
Level/field of study
The Auditor General Bursary SA will award scholarships to students who are currently studying or planning to study the Public Accountant qualification, such as these qualifications:
- BCom Accounting AC Current
- Bachelor of Accounting CA Stream
- BCompt
Studies must be completed at a university recognized and accredited by SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants).
Host Nationality:
This scholarship is to be taken in SOUTH AFRICA.
Eligible Nationality:
The scholarship is open to all South African students to study at any of the universities in the country.
Scholarship Benefits:
The scholarship will cover the following expenses: tuition, prescribed textbooks, and room and board at the university.
Scholarship recipients will be required to participate in training with AGSA once they have graduated or published papers.

Applicants must meet the following minimum income standards before applying (please note that failure to meet each of the requirements will result in your application not being considered):
Matrix students:
- South African citizen
- Currently in Matrix
- Get a minimum result of 60% for English
- Obtain a minimum result of 60% for Mathematics
- Achieve a matrix exemption.
- Be accepted to study at a SAICA-accredited university
- Intending to study full-time towards a Chartered Accountant qualification
2nd-year students:
- South African citizen
- Study full-time in the second year of a Chartered Accountant qualification
- Studying at a SAICA-accredited university
- Get a minimum result of 60% for financial accounting
- A minimum result of 60% for managerial accounting
3rd and final year students:
- South African citizen
- Study full-time in the third or final year of a Chartered Accountant qualification
- Studying at a SAICA-accredited university
- Obtain a minimum result of 60% for financial accounting
- Obtain a minimum result of 60% for Managerial Accounting
- A minimum result of 60% for taxes
- A minimum result of 60% for the Audit
- Get a minimum result of 60% for all other subjects
Students must also meet the following requirements to apply:
- Be proficient in English
- Have strong communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Have strong leadership potential.
- Be determined and committed to succeeding.
