Overview of Allan Gray Orbis Foundation High School Scholarships

The Foundation offers high school scholarships to students in financial need, who have a curious entrepreneurial spirit, and who have the potential for academic excellence.

Scholars are known as Allan Gray Orbis Scholars, they receive high school funding as well as support and programs to develop their business and entrepreneurial talents.

His goal is to develop a community of young business leaders so that his students have the opportunity to go to college through the Allan Gray Orbis Scholarship Program.

The scholarship program focuses on the culture of entrepreneurship, personal mastery, and academic excellence.

They believe that an entrepreneurial spirit will enable our scholars to achieve academic success and effective personal leadership.

What You Need To Know About Allan Gray Orbis Foundation High School Scholarships

Its goal is to fund Allan Gray Orbis Scholars High School, as well as support their entrepreneurial talents.

Level / field of study

This Allan Gray Obis Foundation scholarship is available for high school students. That’s students in Grade 6.

Basically those who have financial needs and those who have a curious business mindset. As well as those high school students who have the potential to excel academically.

Eligible Nationality

The scholarship is available to South African citizens only. The scholarship is also available to students entering high school. Students in Grade 6 may apply.

For Grade 12 students who need a post-Matric to access a South African university. See the next section of this article.

Scholarship Worth

The scholarship program provides access to quality secondary or secondary education.

Its objective is to inspire the passion of selected academics or researchers and develop their potential to become autonomous and high-impact entrepreneurs.

The scholarship covers the following items:

  • Full tuition and boarding fees
  • A monthly allowance (pocket money)
  • A travel allowance
  • Stationery and prescribed books
  • Toiletries, school uniforms and leisure wear.
  • Support for extramural activities

Scholars also have access to a business or business development program.

This ensures students continued progress by providing them with additional business leadership and business development opportunities.

We understand that the transition to a new school can be difficult. The Foundation provides additional support to Scholars to ensure a smooth and successful transition to their new surroundings.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a South African citizen
  • Candidate must be in sixth grade this year (6) to apply.
  • A minimum of 70% in English and Mathematics (5th through 6th grade)
  • A minimum of 70% in numeracy and literacy on the foundation scholarship exam. (After the application process, they select the eligible candidates and invite them to take the scholarship test. Therefore, they then use the test results with the primary or elementary school results to select the candidates for the interview ).
  • Candidates must be no older than 12 and no younger than 11 in Grade 6.
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Demonstrate the following business characteristics:

  • Excellence Achievement : Setting high standards for themselves
  • Courageous Commitment : You must be determined to finish the tasks you start. you must not give up
  • Spirit of importance : Wants to make a difference
  • Personal initiative: Take initiative

Allan Gray Orbis High School Scholarship FAQ

They work with a select group of partner schools and will only provide funding for students who choose to attend one of these schools. Candidates will receive all the necessary communication from the Foundation. The Foundation places Scholars, so they do not need to find a school or contact the school until instructed to do so by the Foundation.

There is a high probability of boarding. However, each of your Scholar’s personal circumstances are taken into account before recommendations are made.

No. Although after successful graduation from the Allan Gray Orbis Scholarship, you will need to follow the standard application process specified for your country to become an Allan Gray Orbis candidate member.

Yes. It is possible to lose your scholarship if you do not meet the academic requirements. Likewise, if you do not comply with the agreed terms and conditions of the Memorandum of Agreement that governs the Scholarship Award. However, we take an active interest in all of our Scholars and will do our best to provide you with all the support you need to maintain and excel in your studies.

Not really. By accepting the scholarship, you will not be able to change from one school to another.
