About the Scholarship:

The University of St. Andrews was founded between 1410 and 1413 and is one of the oldest universities in the English-speaking world. It is also Scotland’s first university and provides a world-class educational experience. This university was formally established through the issuance of a papal bull. St. Andrews is a public university governed by the Universities Act of 1858. The university is located in the rural areas of Fife, Scotland, and its buildings, libraries, and student residences are spread throughout St. Andrews. The University provides a wide range of accommodation options for professors and students on campus.

The University provides a wide range of accommodation options for professors and students on campus. On campus, the university has a large library with a notable collection of books, muniments, photographs, and manuscripts. The library has over a million books, including approximately 200,000 rare and unique titles. The university also has several museums and galleries that house an extensive collection of artifacts from the university. Furthermore, the university is home to over 180 student societies covering a wide range of interests such as music, debate and mass communication, theater, and sports. United College, St Leonard’s Postgraduate College, and St Mary’s College are the three colleges of the University of St. Andrews. The university’s academic structure is made up of a number of Academic Schools and Departments that are organized into four faculties. St. Andrews University offers a wide range of degree programs in ancient history, medicine, art, applied sciences, management, mathematics, philosophy, languages, music, creative writing, and other fields. The university is a participant in the Erasmus Programme, which allows for direct exchanges with universities in Europe. The university has recently established student exchange partnerships with a number of Asian and Australian universities. More than 9,000 students have enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs at the University of St. Andrews. The university staff includes notable scientists, mathematicians, philosophers, theologians, and politicians. For 2019 entry, the university received applications from 183 different countries.

St Andrews guarantees an offer of housing to all undergraduate first-year students who submit their housing application by June 30th of their year of entry. There are over 4,000 rooms available throughout the town, with approximately 40% of them catered, and a choice of single or shared rooms, as well as rooms with shared bathroom facilities or en suite. Instead of living on a single campus, students spread out throughout the city.

The residences at the University of St Andrews range from beautiful stone-built listed buildings with original period features to stylish new apartments built to high environmental and sustainability standards. St Andrews is situated on a rocky outcrop overlooking the dramatic waters of the North Sea. This small, historic town has a population of around 22,000 people, including students, and many beautiful buildings still stand as monuments to the thousands of years it has been a focal point for bishops, kings, saints, and martyrs. The University does not have a campus, but rather covers the entire town, and St Andrews is approximately 80 kilometers north-east of Edinburgh.

The University of St Andrews has excellent facilities in a variety of buildings, ranging from the ultra-modern new Medical laboratories on our North Haugh campus to the mediaeval grandeur of St Salvators Quadrangle, where many lectures are held on a daily basis.

The undergraduate degree structure at St Andrews is extremely flexible. Students in the Faculties of Arts, Science, and Divinity have the opportunity to study a variety of subjects in their first two years, allowing them to gain a broad understanding of various subjects before specializing in their final two years. They also provide integrated Master’s programs and direct entry into the second year of some Science programs. Students pursuing a degree in medicine or a master’s degree must adhere to a specific program structure. St Andrews’ teaching and research staff are one and the same, which means that the vast majority of their teaching staff is also involved in research.

St Andrews programs and extracurricular activities are designed to produce exceptional and in-demand graduates with the skills required in the twenty-first century workplace. They encourage all of their students to consider their employability and future from the start of their time with them; as a result, more than 96 percent of their graduates are in work or further study within six months of graduation.
