Harvard Global Health Institute aims to provide a fellowship program to local and international students who want to pursue higher education in the USA. The institute funds the research of junior investors, fellows, postdocs, and Harvard junior faculty for their curriculum developments, teaching, and innovative research in global health.

For the academic year 2023-2025, Harvard Global Health Institute in partnership with the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability offers a 2-year fellowship program intended for post-doctoral students, research fellows, and early career faculty which focuses on the intersection of climate change and global health.

During the fellowship period, the fellows will work closely with the Harvard faculty in many departments or schools where the research was proposed.

Burke Climate and Health Fellowship is developed with the generous support of Harvard Alumna Katherine State Burke and her husband Robert Burke, they founded the Burke funds to provide help and advance the career of promising researchers in Global Health.

Eligibility

Before proceeding with the application, interested applicants must meet the basic requirements for the fellowship awards.

  • The fellowship encourages both local and international students to apply for the fellowship awards, international students must have permission to work in the USA.
  • Proposed research undertakings ought to have an unmistakable climate and health center and may incorporate relief or variation activities that consider or straightforwardly assess intercessions intended to further develop health results.   • Applicants must be holding a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Medicine, Climate Science, Economics, and Environmental Health. Other related fields will also be considered.
  • The ideal candidates are post-doctoral fellows, research fellows, or with faculty experience positions at their home institute.
  • The applicants must be committed to serving as mentor researchers.
  • The candidates must be able to commit at least 75% FTE efforts in their research for two years fellowship program.
  • The candidates must be able to demonstrate their advanced scholarly research such as publications and so on.

Requirements for the Harvard faculty Sponsoring Mentor 

  • Sponsoring mentors should have a Ph.D. or MD and be Harvard employees who can be associates, assistants,s or Full Professors.
  • Sponsoring mentor should exhibit skills to support the candidate’s area of research.
  • Sponsoring mentor should present a letter of support (limit of two pages) to the choice board depicting exhaustively the degree of obligation to the research and the candidate. Applications without this letter of support won’t be thought of.
  • The sponsoring mentors’ Harvard office should officially qualify and house their mentee.
  • Candidates and the Staff Sponsoring Mentor should get a letter from their scholastic division head recognizing that roundabout expenses are not covered.
  • The mentor should ensure no less than 75% of the safeguarded time for research for their mentee for the 2-year program.

Fellowship Awards 

The fellowship awards incorporate a compensation of $75,000 each year for a sum of as long as two years to support grants connected with climate and health.
