There are various departmental scholarships available at UTSA, such as Business, Engineering, Education and Human Development, Science, English, History, Psychology, and Music scholarships. However, each department has its own eligibility criteria, scholarship value, and deadline.

For instance, the College of Liberal and Fine Arts offers the annual Kangaroo Court Scholarship for the Restaurants of Texas, Inc., which provides a $2,000 scholarship per year to a recipient in their department. The award is open to both graduates and full-time students with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and preference is given to those majoring in geography.

To apply, students must write a short essay, complete an application form, and get a recommendation letter from a UTSA faculty member. You can find more information about this scholarship HERE.

Presidential Scholarships

At UTSA, students with exceptional academic performance in high school may receive a range of scholarships, including the Presidential Distinguished Scholarship.

This scholarship is available to high school graduates/freshmen who plan to pursue their undergraduate studies in their chosen field at the university. The amount of the scholarship is mainly based on the student’s ACT or SAT score and their ranking in their graduating class.

For instance, students who graduated in the top 10% of their class with a minimum score of 32 on their ACTs may receive a $24,000 scholarship over four years. Meanwhile, students who graduated in the first quarter of their class with a minimum score of 26 on their ACTs may receive an $8,000 scholarship divided into four equal payments over four years.

However, non-resident and international students are eligible for a minimum of $1,000 through the Distinguished Presidential Scholarship, and a non-resident tuition waiver will be granted for the academic year if scholarship eligibility is maintained.

Students are automatically considered for this scholarship upon enrollment at UTSA. For more information on the Presidential Scholarships, please visit the following link:
