The Charles, Lela, and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship

The scholarship award is intended for the students in Texas who wants to pursue their education and help build their career developments and skills. The senior high school who can demonstrate their academic excellence can start their application for the academic year of 2022-2023.

The scholarship award will be providing a total value of $5,000 to help the students to cover their educational costs to further the undergraduate degree in any of their chosen programs.

Midland College (MC), known as “Your College”, focuses on providing higher education, cultural developments, and community services in the Midland community.

MC offers a rich exciting range of services and more opportunities, as well as a high-quality learning experience that is more convenient and affordable. More than 5,000 credit students attend MC each semester for approximately one-third the cost of other four-year government institutions in Texas.

Although MC offers two university degrees, the mission of the university remains focused on the goals of city universities. Courses in the university’s academic programs are easily transferable to a four-year university, and MC’s career and technical programs provide the skills needed for a successful career. The excellent teacher-teacher ratio of 17: 1 provides individual attention in an environment that contributes to student success.

Eligibility

To proceed on the scholarship application, the students must check the qualification criteria below:

• The students must be a US Citizen
• Texas Resident
• Graduate of the Texas High School
• Must not exceed more than a hundred twelve credit hours in college including the dual credit hours.

Application Details 

The application can be made through an online portal provided by the university. To start the application process, students must need to be registered at the portal it will defer depending on the student’s type and educational goal.

All incomplete applications will not be considered by the scholarship committee. The essay to be submitted will be depending on the chosen topic of the students from the university portal. The essay will serve as personal statements that describe personal information about the applicants, challenges, exceptional hardships, and opportunities.

Scholarship Awards 

The Slough Scholarship will be awarding one deserving student who will be admitted to an undergraduate degree and meet the eligibility of the scholarship program. The beneficiary of the awards will be receiving $5,000 annually in 5 years or until the completion of the undergraduate degree program at MC.

As the scholarship will be renewed, the students must keep in mind that there will be maintaining requirements for the scholarship.

Scholarship Deadline 

The deadline to submit the application and required documents is until April 1, 2022. The scholarship will be renewable and will be offered annually.

Scholarship Renewal Eligibility 

To continue your scholarship until the completion of the bachelor’s degree, the students must follow the guidelines below:

• The students must be able to maintain their GPA minimum score of 3.0 per semester.
• Enrollment in more than 12 hours in both the fall and spring semesters.
• Must be able to continue their studies at MC in consecutive semesters.
• The transcript of records must be able to submit every semester to the scholarship department.
• 112 hours completion until the final year of the scholarship eligibility.

All the guidelines on maintaining the scholarship program are already set and no students will be exempted.
