The University of Central Missouri has prime focus on working with international students who come from the Western parts of Africa as well as South Africa. The Alice Fayemi Olaiya Foundation Award gives out a varied amount per year to students that need the funding. While this is not necessarily a financial need scholarship, the scholarship can act as such.

While the university may not be considered the oldest in the nation, the university is well over 150 years old. Central University is located in Warrensburg, Missouri which is located in the heart of the state of Missouri.

This is one of the few campuses where it is required of first years and second years to live on campus and attend as full-time students. This is to give students steady grip on college and academic life.

Eligibility

• The main field study the student must be studying is Industrial Hygiene or Health Studies.
• Any applicant from Nigeria will be given first priority with this scholarship, to eventually be moved to the Central Missouri University campus.
• An international student does not need to be attending the Central Missouri College before applying for this scholarship.
• Graduate students in Nigeria who graduated from high school or a finishing school in Nigeria are very welcome to apply for this scholarship.
• All applicants must keep their grade point average about 2.5. even after they have received the scholarship award. This is non-renewable scholarship award.
• International students that had already moved to the United States from Africa may apply but they will not be first priority.
• Both female and male students can apply.

Requirements

Students will be asked two separate questions that they will need essay answers. The first questions consists of wanting to know if the student applying is an international student and why they wish to study abroad.

The second question is for the student to describe and tell about the country they are original from.

These can be short essay answers, 500 words is way too much for these answers. If a student can keep their essay answers around 300 words, that would be perfect.

When applying the student will need to show that they have had some sort of prior health classes since this scholarship is aimed at health studies as a specific field study.

Reward – Extra Benefits

The reward amount does vary however, the set amount starting out is $5,000 but can grow to be $20,000 USD. All applicants that are considered first priority will receive free room and accommodation when they become the recipient of this scholarship. The University of Central Missouri will ensure that they have a dorm room on campus.

The student may be entitled to other services such as free health insurance covered by the university for the duration of their student permit stay. Also, international students will need to receive a student study permit before coming to the United States. This can be arranged and guided through using the e-mail address in the contact section where a student will receive the necessary steps to take to make sure they have a student permit for the Untied States before their program starts.

Deadline

The deadline for the 2022 has already passed, so students will need to wait until the end of the 2022 open submission window before submitting an application. The deadline official date is February 15, 2023.

All individuals should use quality control when looking at the eligibility to ensure they are a proper fit for the scholarship, or any scholarship for that matter. If a student fits the necessary eligibility that is asked for, then the student has a higher chance at receiving the full benefits of that scholarship.

Open Submission Window Time Frame

Students will need to wait for the end of 2022 when open submission open back up in November of 2022. There is a general 4-month time frame where students can submit their applications.

Deadline dates can always vary or change if needed, and the University of Central Missouri website will update with a news headlines or a notification e-mail if any official dates have become delayed, cancelled, or move for any particular reason.

Students cannot ask for a deferment when they have received this scholarship award. Instead, they may risk losing the reward.
