The University Of Utah LGBT Resource Center Scholarships, USA 2022-23 are now available to International and Domestic Students. The scholarship covers Undergraduate, Graduate, and Postgraduate level programs at the University of Utah in the field of All Subjects taught. The scholarship deadline is February 22, 2022.

 

About the Scholarship:

The University of Utah is a public research university in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. As Utah’s flagship university, this institution offers over a hundred undergraduate majors and over 92 graduate degree programs. With’selective, higher transfer-in admissions,’ this university has been named one of the ‘Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity. The University of Utah was founded as the University of Deseret in 1850. It was later closed due to a lack of funds as well as feeder schools. It was reopened in 1867 and renamed the University of Utah in 1892. During the early twentieth century, the university expanded significantly. During the 2002 Olympics, this university served as the Olympic Village, organizing the opening and closing ceremonies.

The University of Utah is the westernmost state university. The school was founded in Salt Lake City on February 28, 1850, and its first term – for men only – began in November of that year. The second term was made available to both men and women. Classes were canceled at the end of the third term in 1852 due to a lack of funds. The University was partially reopened in 1867, primarily as a business school, and was completely reestablished by 1869. The University was housed in a variety of locations in Salt Lake City until 1884, when it relocated to the site of West High School. In 1886, ten normal and two bachelor degrees were conferred at the first official commencement.

By 1900, enrollment had increased to 400 students, and B.A. and B.S. degrees in classical, scientific, and normal programs were available.

In 1894, the institution’s name was changed from the University of Deseret to the University of Utah, and Congress granted the school sixty acres of Fort Douglas land on the east bench. On October 1, 1900, classes began at this location. In 1904 an additional 32 acres of land from Fort Douglas were annexed to the campus, and new classrooms and an athletic stadium were built during the 1920s. Authorizing master’s degrees, opening a two-year medical school, organizing an extension division, and establishing a law school were all programs established in the early twentieth century. The University of Utah has 17 colleges and schools spread across 1,534 acres, including architecture + planning, business, cultural & social transformation, dentistry, education, engineering, fine arts, health, honors college, humanities, law, medicine, mines & earth sciences, nursing, pharmacy, science, social & behavioral science, and social work. It has nearly 100 academic departments and a plethora of academic interdisciplinary programs.

This university has a division known as the University of Utah Health, which employs over 14,000 people. It is one of Utah’s largest employers, contributing millions of dollars in tax revenue to the state each year. It is Utah’s sole university health care facility. It serves patients from Utah as well as neighboring states such as Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and a large portion of Nevada. This university health care system also serves as a training ground for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and other health care professionals in the state. The art department at the University of Utah also has a wide range of specializations.

It has five academic units and three professional arts organizations in its College of Fine Arts. Every year, it also hosts a number of skits, dramatic performances, artistic exhibits, interesting concerts, unusual film screenings, and opportunities to speak with local and international artists. This university places a strong emphasis on the commercialization of its research. In 2019, the University of Utah received 547 million dollars for its research spending method. Furthermore, this university generated 211.8 million dollars in licensing revenue and recorded 69 startups. Students at the University of Utah can pursue majors, minors, certificates, BA, BS, BFA/BMUS, BSW, and Honors degrees.

The university offers over 100 undergraduate majors as well as 92 graduate degree programs. The University of Utah is widely regarded as the nation’s leading research university in the field of technology commercialization. The university’s campus includes laboratories, research centers, libraries, fitness centers, halls, theaters, a cafeteria, and a student center. The regular and auxiliary faculty at the University of Utah are among the most productive researchers in the country. The University has international research connections and is one of the top twenty-five American colleges and universities in terms of funded research. In 1970 the University acquired land immediately adjacent to the campus and developed a research park, which in 1990 houses fifty-seven companies many of which grew out of faculty research.

Degrees are offered in sixty-four undergraduate and ninety graduate-level subjects as well as more than fifty teaching major and minors.

There are currently 1,355 members on the teaching faculty, as well as a large support staff. Orchestras, bands, jazz combos, an opera ensemble, and several choral, chamber, dance, and theatre groups are among the current campus organizations. The Pioneer Memorial Theatre Company; a professional equity company; Utah Museum of Fine Arts; Museum of Natural History; and the state Arboretum are located on campus. The University also has a public television and radio stations and operates a state instructional television channel. As Utah prepares to enter the twenty-first century, it remains an important and vital state institution.

Scholarship Offer:
The University of Utah will award selected students $2,000-$3,500 toward a study program of their choice, undergraduate or graduate.

Eligibility for Scholarship

1. Must be a current University of Utah (undergraduate or graduate) student OR an incoming student who has completed at least one semester at another university or college.
2. Must have and keep a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
3. Financial need will be taken into account during the selection process. To be eligible for a scholarship, awardees must complete the FAFSA application process. 4. Applicants who have questions or concerns about this process should contact our office.
5. To receive a scholarship, awardees must complete an HB 144 affidavit. Undocumented/DACA students who have graduated from a Utah high school, as well as international students, are eligible for our scholarships. 6. Previous LGBT RC scholarship recipients are encouraged to reapply. First-time applicants will be given preference.
