The opportunity is now open for the academic year of 2023-2024, for the undergraduate students who want to add an additional funds towards their education journey here is the chance to apply for the scholarship offered by the Wells Mountain Initiative.

WMI Scholarship Program

The scholarship program offered by the Wells Mountain Initiative wants to invite outstanding students from developing countries to apply for the scholarship that can help them towards their academic expenses.

The scholarship program aims to help the young generation realize their potential and credibility to achieve their career goals and become one of the leaders that can create changes to their home country communities.

The WMI recognizes poverty as a result of inequity in the global structure. Their strategy to provide financial help through scholarship can empower a future young leader who can have the chance to change the root of the poverty problems.

About the Provider

The Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) promotes social change at the local level by building a global network of local leaders driving community change in 47 developing countries.

They support young people who have shown themselves to be irresistible in the face of adversity and are strongly committed to making a difference in their communities. They finance their undergraduate education in high-income industries, support them in managing social projects throughout their academic careers, and support them in all challenges so that they can complete their education successfully.

Upon graduation, WMI offers lifelong support that includes professional development and social entrepreneurship training, grants to develop the student’s own projects and businesses in the community, regular in-person conferences, and online webinars, and support for academics at the country’s leading companies.

Through WMI efforts, they nurture a global community of grassroots leaders and social entrepreneurs tackling issues such as gender inequality, access to education, health inequality, and climate change through locally rooted and community-focused approaches that lead to more air and sustainable solutions.

Eligibility 

If you are interested to be one of the WMI Scholars, you should meet the eligibility of the scholarship before starting the application process.

  • The applicants must be a citizen of developing countries of any gender.
  • Must have completed their secondary education with good academic records.
  • The age must be under 35 years old at the time of application.
  • The applicants must be pursuing the undergraduate degree as a freshman student or in their first year.
  • Willing to be enrolled in an eligible course that may be able to contribute to their communities. The course must be related to the advancement and sustainable growth of his or her home country.
  • Planning to live in their home country after the undergraduate study or scholarship program has ended.
  • Must be able to demonstrate their commitments of giving back or volunteering on any community activities.
  • The applicants must have other extra funds that can be used towards their education.
  • Must have good communication in oral and written English.

Application Process

Qualified applicants can b begin their application for the academic year of 2023-2024.

Applicants will be directed to an online portal application system provided by WMI. Upon opening the portal students are required to fill out the information and create their accounts. The application must be completed thoroughly to be able to be considered and be reviewed.

Required Documents 

The application requires supporting documents to support the application process. Below are the documents required to be submitted:

  • Clear Photo
  • Application form of 2023
  • Two recommendation letter
  • Essay, the essay can be seen on the application portal.
  • Personal statement
  • Official transcript of records on secondary school
  • Grading key on secondary school
  • National exam official results
  • Grading key to interpret tertiary grades
  • Grading key to interpret scores on your national exam

The grading system keys must be from the school that issues the grades or from the government which issued the national exam. All documents should be uploaded along with the application forms, it can be in the following format such as PNG, JPG, DOC, PDF, DOCX.

All documents should be translated into the English language.

Scholarship Application Deadline 

The applicants must print out the 2023 application form that will be available December 1, 2022, and it is the applicant’s responsibility to clearly complete and attach all necessary supporting documents before sending it to the Wells Mountain Initiative.

Applications must reach their office by March 1, 2023. Applications received after March 1, 2023, will not be considered. This means you must have at least three weeks to submit your application from overseas to the WMI. Submit only complete applications. Incomplete or additional justification letters will be rejected. WMI strongly encourages applicants to apply online to ensure the submission of their complete application.

WMI will not accept any emailed applications.

Scholarship Awards 

The scholarship will be range from $300 to $3000 annually for up to four years. The scholarship funds can be used for the student’s tuition fees, books and other related materials, and the student’s accommodation.

Scholars Responsibilities

  • The scholars must maintain their academic grades at any chosen university.
  • Must be one of the ambassadors who can contribute to the community and engage in a community service.
  • Must be able to record their performance in a total of 100 hours throughout the year.
  • Must be able to complete the academic semester.
  • Must be able to send their transcript twice a year to the WMI.

Important Note

There are no fees to be paid for the scholarship application, the Wells Mountain Initiative is not accepting fees upon submission of the scholarship application. The scholarship submission must only be passed before the deadline. All late and incomplete applications will not be considered.

The scholars who chooses to study in the US, Australia, Canada, Uk or Western Europe will not be accepted and qualified by the WMI Scholarship.
