Postgraduate research scholarship applicants who are not awarded an Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Scholarship or a Flinders University Research Scholarship may be eligible to receive one of a limited number of research awards from the College of Science and Engineering.
For a Doctorate by Research, the College of Science and Engineering Research Awards are renewable for up to three years, and for a Master’s degree, the awards are renewable for up to two years, based on satisfactory progress. The maximum amount of time spent in a position might be adjusted downwards to account for time already spent earning the degree. This fellowship is restricted to students who have been accepted into or are already enrolled in a research-based Master’s or Doctoral program in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Eligibility for Scholarship
In order to qualify for an award, applicants must:
- Have Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or be a permanent resident of Australia as of the application deadline, or be an international student who has graduated with an Honours degree or equivalent certificate from an Australian university within the previous two years; and
- Possess an undergraduate degree with a suitable Honours 1 or high 2A (or equivalent) and have completed at least four years of higher education at a high level of achievement;
- are starting studies at the Faculty of Science and Engineering as full-time students;
- started or are currently enrolled in a research-based Master’s or Doctoral program;
- Have their application for admission approved in the field they wish to study in.
- The highest-ranked applicant(s) for a postgraduate research scholarship who does not receive an AGRTP Scholarship or a Flinders University Research Scholars Award will typically be given this award based on academic merit and research potential.
- It is the responsibility of the College to choose the recipients of the awards.
