This prestigious and competitive scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership potential, and extracurricular involvement of international students who want to study engineering at McMaster University. It is a renewable scholarship that covers up to $25,000 of tuition fees per year for four years, subject to maintaining a minimum average of 9.5 out of 12.
The scholarship is offered by the Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University, one of Canada’s largest and most research-intensive engineering faculties. The faculty offers undergraduate and graduate programs in various disciplines, such as biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, and software engineering. The faculty also allows students to participate in co-op programs, internships, research projects, clubs, teams, and competitions.
Eligible Applicants
The scholarship is open to international students who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents and have applied for admission to a full-time undergraduate engineering program at McMaster University for the fall term of 2024. The scholarship is unavailable to students transferring from another post-secondary institution or applying for a second degree.

Scholarship Worth
The scholarship is worth up to $25,000 per year for four years, which covers a significant portion of the tuition fees for international students. The scholarship is renewable yearly, provided the recipient maintains a minimum average of 9.5 out of 12 in their engineering courses. The scholarship does not cover other expenses like living costs, books, travel, or health insurance.
Level and Field of Study
The scholarship is available for undergraduate study in any engineering program offered by the Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University. The scholarship does not apply to other faculties or programs at McMaster University.
How to Apply
To apply for the scholarship, the applicants must first apply for admission to an undergraduate engineering program at McMaster University through the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) by January 15, 2024. The applicants must also submit their transcripts, English language proficiency test scores, and other required documents by February 1, 2024.
After applying for admission, the applicants must complete and submit an online supplementary application form by February 15, 2024. The supplementary application form contains questions about the applicant’s academic achievements, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, and career goals. The applicants must also provide two references from teachers, counselors, coaches, or mentors who can attest to their academic and personal qualities.
The applicants will be evaluated based on their academic performance, supplementary application, and references. The scholarship recipients will be notified by email by April 15, 2024.
Countries that can Apply
The scholarship is open to international students from any country who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents. The scholarship is not available to students who are already studying in Canada or who have previously studied in Canada.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicants must meet the following criteria:
- They must be international students who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
- They must have applied for admission to a full-time undergraduate engineering program at McMaster University for fall 2024.
- They must have an outstanding academic record, with an average of at least 90% or equivalent in their final year of high school or equivalent.
- They must have demonstrated leadership potential and involvement in extracurricular activities, such as sports, arts, community service, or clubs.
- They must have a strong interest, aptitude for engineering, and desire to make a difference in the world.
- They must have a high English language proficiency level, with a minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS, 86 in TOEFL, or equivalent.
Scholarship Deadline
The deadline for applying for the scholarship is February 15, 2024. The applicants must submit their online supplementary application form by this date. The applicants must also ensure that their admission application and supporting documents are submitted by the respective deadlines. The scholarship recipients will be announced by April 15, 2024.
