Are You Eligible for this Opportunity

  • This is a very competitive music-based grant/scholarship. Hundreds of students apply each year and only five are picked from that amount.
  • Five Avery Fisher Career Grant/Scholarship offers will be given per academic year.
  • Students must either be a citizen of the U.S. or hold a permanent resident card. This, however, does mean that if a student was born in a different country but holds dual citizenship, they are eligible to apply.
  • Students must be solo instrumentalists when they apply.
  • There is no age limit mentioned and this is stated on the official original website of the Avery Fisher prize.

Requirements for this Scholarship

The biggest requirement for this ultimate award is that students must be a solo instrumentalist. They will need to perform at an audition which is not online but in person at the Lincoln Center.

Reward – Extra Benefits Included

Any estimated total of $25,000 will be gifted to one student that fits the eligibility requirements. Now to state this clearly, more than one student will win and each will receive $25,000 USD.

Student Visa

A student visa is only needed if a non-U.S.-based student is accepted to this college.
International students will be able to follow a general guide that can be asked for at the embassy or online through a government website about successfully applying for a student visa without trouble.
As of right now, applying at your earliest convenience is important. The routine route is that if a student is applying for admission to a university that is not located in their own country, they will need to apply for a student visa.
Depending on if the student is a citizen of the EU or from an EU country, then there will be different regulations for those students when it comes to student visas.

How to Apply for this Scholarship

There is only one direct way to apply for this grant/scholarship and it does involve an interview and a dedicated musical performance. Whichever solo musician proves to the committee that they are committed to music and have performed with excellence will be chosen for this award.

Oddly enough students will be nominated and asked to perform at an audition. This, however, may not be clear to the student until they receive a letter or are told they are in the running for this prestigious grant/scholarship.

This is nominated based and not by the student, this is by faculty.

Deadline Date

The deadline is not defined because this award can be gifted at different times throughout the academic year. Essentially they look for the best solo instrumentalist and see who is in the running for this career grant. This is a competitive scholarship where normally professional musicians are seated at the audition and will nominate the best student.

However, things can happen to delay or change the official date. All students interested and attending should keep an eye on any college newsletters and university emails they receive that could contact deadline information.

Open Submission Window Time Frame

The open submission window time frame is considered to be open throughout the entire academic duration year. There is no grade or degree level limit. This means students who are undergraduates or working towards their Master’s in Music can be admitted or nominated for this award.

Annual or Renewable Scholarship Options that are Available to Students

This is an annual option for new students who are studying in the United States. This is not a renewable option since this is a one-time prize of $25,000 USD which the student can use to further their studies in music.

Here at Pick a Scholarship we offer a full range of scholarship databases for all students looking for varying degree levels. While we provide exact information for each scholarship application and when the deadlines/open submission windows are held. We offer a contact section on each post where the admissions of the university or the director of a private sponsor can be reached to give more information or details.
All applicants should consult the contact webpage that is in the contact section of this page if a question has not been answered. Beforehand check the university’s FAQs page to see if anything can be answered right away.
All students should check with the university website about any delays or changes to the open submission window or deadline time frame. This is the best way to see if anything needs to be reviewed or changed before submitting their application. Anyone can sign up to receive a university website newsletter to stay updated on the latest information.
Any student unsure about the rules and guidelines meant to be followed by the recipient should consult the website link provided. Anyone looking for more information that is not found on the website should contact the email address.

We also suggest that all applicants read through the information guideline page that is available through the original scholarship link. This way, the individual can navigate the website correctly and identify the real scholarship online application. So far there has been no mention of any delays for this opportunity or any cancellations.

Each foundation has its own set of guidelines that should be followed as well to maintain a scholarship for its full duration. Otherwise, contact the phone number to ask any other unrelated questions that are not currently answered.
