About the Scholarship:

Alvernia is a private liberal arts university based on Franciscan traditions that serves a diverse student population of 3,000 students from 25 states and 14 countries. Our lovely campus is located in Berks County, just three miles from ancient Reading, Pa., and is an accessible driving journey from some of the Northeast’s major metropolitan regions.

With more than 50 undergraduate majors and minors, Alvernia University provides students with a unique combination of a rigorous liberal arts core for mind development, strong technical training in high-demand majors, experiential learning through internships and real-world opportunities, and community engagement through our service model. This is known as the Alvernia Advantage, and we believe it helps students develop into ethical leaders with moral courage. We’re delighted to be the Golden Wolves, and our pack has been named a College of Distinction by U.S. News & World Report and is placed in the top 100 among the best regional institutions in the North. Alvernia University (AU) provides courses and programs that lead to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, and master degrees in a variety of fields of study. For more information, see the uniRank degree levels and areas of study matrix below. This 62-year-old US higher-education institution has a stringent admission procedure that is based on entrance examinations as well as students’ previous academic record and ratings. This US higher education organization is somewhat selective, with an admittance rate of 60-70 percent. International applicants are welcome to apply for admission. AU also offers a library, accommodation, sports facilities, financial aid and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning possibilities, and administrative services to students. A dual admissions agreement has been created between Alvernia University and Community College of Philadelphia. This agreement is intended to help students who have earned a suitable associate degree transfer to Alvernia University’s Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree Programs, which are available online or at the Philadelphia Campus and On-Site Regional Campuses. Alvernia University promises admission on the condition that all requirements are met. The campus is designed to be mostly self-sufficient, with students having access to housing, food facilities, and major sporting facilities centered on Track and Schlager Memorial Field, the university’s running track and home field for Alvernia’s several competitive sports teams. American football, soccer, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, tennis, and track and field are among the sports practiced at the university. In addition to the specialized university facilities, the university’s students are within a 10-minute drive from Reading and a little more than an hour from the considerably bigger city of Philadelphia. Aside from the numerous recreational activities accessible to Alvernia students, the university also houses a number of major academic facilities and study centers. For undergraduates, the institution offers over 40 distinct majors, as well as a number of minors in a variety of subject areas ranging from sciences to humanities and social studies.

In addition to these undergraduate programs, the institution offers a limited number of postgraduate degrees in a variety of fields, including Master’s and Doctoral degrees. Wayne Hoffman, a magician, is one of Alvernia’s most well-known alumni. The institute, which was previously known as Alvernia College and recently attained the status of a university, is a well-known name in the US education system. The university has around 2,900 students, including 1,500 undergraduates and approximately 780 graduates.
