Programs The Bellagio Center’s Residency Program seeks to create an environment in which an intense intercultural and interdisciplinary exchange takes place, as a result of the meeting of diverse and international cohorts of artists, scientists, professionals, and decision-makers.

Frequent questions

There must be an appropriate balance between the scope of the proposed work and the duration of the residency. In other words, don’t propose to do more in the four weeks at Bellagio than is reasonable, and also don’t propose a work plan that can be accomplished in less than four weeks.

It is important to explain in the application, preferably in the draft project/project outline, what the proposed activities will be in Bellagio and a work plan for the residency period must be clearly articulated.

For those who have previously applied or had previous residences, there is a maximum limit of three applications and a maximum limit of two residences. Former Bellagio residents and spouses applying for a second residence must wait at least five years from their first residence before submitting a new application. 

If none of your previous work is published in English.  You are still eligible to apply for a residency. We ask that you provide an English version of your CV and an English translation (if available) or an abstract of written work samples so that our reviewers can assess these materials.
