University of Geneva Master’s Excellence Scholarship in the Faculty of Sciences

The University of Geneva Master’s Excellence Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to the most outstanding and promising students who want to enroll in a master’s program in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva. The scholarship covers the tuition fee and a monthly allowance of CHF 10,000 for the duration of the master’s program, usually three or four semesters. The scholarship also provides the students access to the research facilities and laboratories of the Faculty of Sciences and mentoring and supervision from the faculty members.

Scholarship Provider

The University of Geneva Master’s Excellence Scholarship is provided by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva, one of the nine faculties of the University of Geneva. The Faculty of Sciences was founded in 1939 and comprises six sections: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics. The Faculty of Sciences offers a range of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs, as well as continuing education and professional development courses. The Faculty of Sciences has about 3,000 students and 1,000 staff, including professors, researchers, and administrative personnel.

The Faculty of Sciences is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation in the sciences field. The Faculty of Sciences is involved in various national and international research projects and networks, such as the Swiss National Science Foundation, the European Research Council, the Horizon 2020, and the CERN. Eligible Applicants

The University of Geneva Master’s Excellence Scholarship is open to applicants from any country who meet the following criteria:

  • They have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university or institution in the sciences field.
  • They have high academic performance and potential, as evidenced by their grades, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and motivation letters.
  • They have applied for a master’s program in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva through the online application portal by the March 15, 2024 deadline.
  • They have paid the CHF 65 application fee and submitted all the required documents by the March 15, 2024 deadline.
  • They have a high English or French proficiency level, as required by the master’s program they have applied for.

Scholarship Worth

The University of Geneva Master’s Excellence Scholarship covers the tuition fee and a monthly allowance of CHF 10,000 for the duration of the master’s program in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva. The scholarship does not cover travel costs, visa fees, health insurance, books, and materials. The scholarship is awarded for three or four semesters, depending on the master’s program.

The master’s programs in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva are designed to provide students with advanced knowledge, skills, and competencies in their chosen field of study. The master’s programs include courses, seminars, projects, and a thesis. The master’s programs are taught in English, French, or both, depending on the program. The master’s programs are offered by the six sections of the Faculty of Sciences, which are:

How to Apply

The University of Geneva Master’s Excellence Scholarship is awarded based on the application and admission process of the master’s program in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva. The applicants do not need to submit a separate application for the scholarship. Applicants admitted to a master’s program in the Faculty of Sciences will be automatically considered for the scholarship. The applicants who are selected for the scholarship will be notified by the Faculty of Sciences by email.

The application process for the master’s program consists of the following steps:

The applicants must select the master’s program they want to apply for in the Faculty of Sciences and fill out the required information and documents.
