The Swedish Institute is a Swedish public entity created to promote interest and trust in this Nordic country. Each year it offers its Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) scholarship program.
This program is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Swedish government, and its objective is to contribute to the preparation of foreign citizens thanks to its Master’s scholarship program at Swedish universities.
However, this scholarship does not cover expenses related to the transportation of a family member. Neither are the costs related to the application process within the Swedish university.
Lastly, this scholarship is assigned for one year and can be extended for a total of two years.

To access this program, those interested should make their application for admission to the master’s program of their interest. Subsequently, make the application for the scholarships with all the requested documents.
Academic offer of the SISGP master’s scholarships
It is important to mention that this scholarship program has a closed offer, that is, scholarships are only awarded for programs in the list of eligible programs. Currently, the academic offer is more than 700 programs in more than 20 institutions throughout the country.
Additionally, SISGP scholarships prioritize academic programs aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Eligibility Criteria for Masters Scholarships in Sweden
Those interested in these full scholarships in Sweden must demonstrate a minimum of 3000 hours of work experience. Likewise, they must be admitted to a master’s program at a Swedish university.
Additionally, these scholarships are only available to citizens of 42 countries, including the following Latin American countries :
- Bolivia
- Brazil
- Colombia
- Ecuador
- Guatemala
- Honduras
- Peru
It is important to mention that other factors such as leadership or work experiences can facilitate scholarship eligibility.
Benefits of the Swedish Institute scholarships
Recipients of this scholarship program will not be required to pay tuition costs at the Swedish university. In addition, they will receive:
- SEK 10,000 monthly stipend
- Health insurance
- Travel expenses totaling SEK 15,000
- Among others
However, this scholarship does not cover expenses related to the transportation of a family member. Neither are the costs related to the application process within the Swedish university.
