The University of Leeds has such a long and intriguing history which started all the way back in 1904. Although this was just the overall graduate university, the original Medical school was founded decades before.
In a fascinating twist, most universities during the turn of the century all accepted certain families who followed a particular faith. The University of Leeds was the first in the United Kingdom to accept all students from different class backgrounds and religions. This was in part because the country was working towards affordable education without heavy tuition payments back then.
It would be near the first World War when the student population had swelled to incredible numbers then dropped off in 1914. However, this is when women were able to collectively approach a higher education to fill in the gaps from all the men who had left to tend to the World War. This suddenly showed the university headmaster that having both men and women allowed to acquire a higher education helped the economy thrive.

Eligibility
- All applicants must have the accessible citizenship of being an overseas citizen or EU resident.
- Eligible students should understand that one of the reasons they will be applicable is based on the overseas tax or fee that the student will have to pay out of pocket.
- All eligible individuals would have to be registered as full-time students. This means part-time students would have to change their status to full-time to be accepted into this scholarship opportunity.
- Another obstacle is that the student must have already paid in full the full course fee.
- Must be a freshman in college that has not studied that program before. Essentially this must be the first time that course has been taken by that specific student.
Requirements
How does a student if they are not eligible for this scholarship:
- Being a part-time student with no intent to change to a full-time course
- Repeating a year based on poor grades
- If a student has taken a gap year or asks for a deferred year
- Certain programs are not eligible for this scholarship, consult the university website to see what is on the exemption list
- Any legal practice programs are except for this scholarship (there are different fees inquired that do not fit into the eligible circumstances of this scholarship)
- Students may be asked to prefer a background check to ensure that they have no criminal offenses that could affect their restricted college bank account.
- Since a student will need to have everything prepaid, a student will have to phot scan a copy of their receipt with their admissions form.
How to Apply
When it comes to applying for this scholarship, this is what a student needs to do. The student does not need to complete a separate application form. To receive this scholarship to its fullest maximum funding, the student must meet the eligibility criteria listed. That means once the student has signed up and paid the full course fee, the discount will be automatically deducted from their course.
Reward – Extra Benefits
Once a student has paid in full for their full-time program and has received the receipt from the university and scholarship, then a student can apply for extra scholarships if they wish.
The student will be awarded £1,500 in total for their correct eligible criteria.
For second-year students and so on, the reward amount does double for each following year.
However, a student should understand that they cannot under any circumstance apply for the same “first entry” scholarship. They will need to choose the “second-year term” or third-year term” depending on which major graduate-level the student is working towards.
Deadline
The official deadline date is January 26, 2023. This means that all students should prepare for the 2023 academic year to turn in their applications within the time frame given by Leeds University.
This is the only official “turn in all applications for all degree levels” available on the Leeds website. This is where students should consult or check to see if for some reason the deadline date has been moved or delayed before submitting their admissions application.
Open Submission Window Time Frame
The full application deadlines listed on the University of Leeds is as instructed:
July 1, 2022, is for students to receive a guaranteed place in University accommodation if the student has received an accepted Leeds status as their official choice.
On September 28, 2022, the official Fall term begins.
For students to enter their applications and official deadline will be in 2023 since the 2022 year has passed. January 26, 2023, is the official deadline for all programs and courses a student wishes to take.
Annual
This is an annual scholarship that has official deadline dates that must be followed.
This is an odd renewable annual ‘every student is applicable’ scholarship from Leeds University. They do present to all students each year, a certain level of eligibility that Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. students can apply to. So this could be considered a renewable scholarship however, it is open to each student who has admissions to Leeds University.
