Eastern Illinois University (EIU) is located in Charleston, Illinois, approximately 180 miles south of Chicago and 140 miles northeast of St. Louis. Undergraduates can select from a variety of majors in the arts and humanities, business and applied sciences, education and professional studies, and the sciences. The university also provides over 25 master’s degree programs, including those in the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences and the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences.

Outside of the classroom, EIU students can participate in over 200 clubs, dozens of fraternities and sororities, and student government. EIU hosts several events for students each year, including Family Weekend in the fall, which includes a concert and a football game, and the Miss Black EIU Scholarship Pageant during African American Heritage Month. Intramural sports are available for students, or they can try out for one of the many EIU Panthers varsity teams, which compete in the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference. Eastern Illinois alumni include John Malkovich, who starred in the films Con Air and Being John Malkovich, and Tony Romo, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.

The students who belonged to a religious order completed a maximum of seventy-two semester hours of their undergraduate work at the College and then transferred to the University of America, Seton Hall, or Fordham Universities.

It would not be until 1967 that this private college would actually reference itself as Felician University, where the institution promptly became a four-year graduate center.

As a matter of fact, women make up more than half (around 75%) of the student population, with more than 65 different field studies for students to major in.

  • Becoming known as the third private institution in New Jersey for the best value in 2017, garnering a spot in history as the 3rd best private school in the state.
  • The college’s Master of Science in Nursing program became known as the best online graduate nursing program in the United States of America.

Eligibility

  • All applicants must be international students, this means not out-of-state, but from a different country altogether.
  • If a student has maintained to keep their grade point average above 2.5, they qualify to apply for this scholarship.
  • All applicants must present their previous school transcript where no less than 12 credits were collected and passed by the student applying.
  • Only a student can apply for this scholarship, not a teacher or a parent.
  • Both male and female students may apply
  • Students whose field study is in any health profession may be seen as the first priority.
  • Students that have had a previous criminal record cannot apply for this scholarship or for a transfer.
