The Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and the Singapore Management University have collaborated to create the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) (SMU).

PhD training will take place in English at A*STAR Research Institutes, NTU, NUS, SUTD, or SMU in the lab of your choice. In these labs, students will be supervised by eminent and internationally recognized researchers. Students will receive a PhD degree from NTU, NUS, SUTD, or SMU if they complete the program successfully. Singapore serves as a gateway to some of the region’s fastest-growing economies. About the Scholarship:

The National Institution of Singapore is Asia’s top and world-leading comprehensive research university, with a global concentration on Asian contexts in its education and research programs. The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a variety of subjects ranging from science to music. NUS has 17 faculties and schools spread out over three main campuses: Kent Ridge, Outram, and Bukit Timah. The Duke-NUS Medical School, which collaborates with Duke University USA, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and its liberal arts institution Yale-NUS College, which collaborates with Yale University USA, are among NUS’s notable schools.

CFA and the University Cultural Centre aim to present a variety of artistic genres to the NUS community and beyond, appealing to a wide range of scholarly and popular interests. NUS provides a variety of residential alternatives and opportunities based on students’ preferences for facilities, location, and level of involvement in the NUS community. Residential college programs, residential halls, and residences are all important residential alternatives.The NUS campus also has a diverse choice of foods to tempt the palate. It has a large number of canteens, food courts, and speciality eateries that are conveniently located near the many institutions and schools.

Scholarship Offer:

The award covers up to four years of PhD studies and includes:

  1. The cost of tuition
  2. S$2,000 monthly stipend, which will be enhanced to S$2,500 after the Qualifying Examination is passed.
  3. A one-time flight grant of up to S$1,500* is available.
  4. S$1,000 one-time settling-in allowance* *Terms and limitations apply.

2. Required Documents

Before applying, make sure you have the necessary documents ready.

Please do not send any hard copies of papers to the SINGA Office. All required documentation must be supplied via the internet.

A valid passport is required, as well as a recent passport-sized photo (in .jpeg or .png format)

 

3. Reports & Transcripts

ENGLISH TRANSLATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL TRANSCRIPTS.

Academic transcripts (Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degrees).

If your bachelor’s degree certificate(s) / scroll(s) has not yet been conferred, a letter of certification from the university on your candidature is required.

2 reports with recommendations (to be completed and submitted online by the referees).

 

Optional

GRE, IELTS, TOEFL, SAT I & II, and GATE scores. However, you should be aware that the university may need you to provide satisfactory scores as part of the university admissions process.
