Level 3, Hub Central North Terrace Campus THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE 5005 AUSTRALIA

The purpose of the Adelaide Summer Research Scholarships is to inspire undergraduate students to explore continuing their education with postgraduate studies at the University of Adelaide, with the end goal of obtaining a job in the field of research. In order to pique the scholars’ interest in more advanced levels of education, they will collaborate with a research team.

In the academic year 2022–2023, the University of Adelaide will award up to sixty Summer Research Scholarships to continuing undergraduate students who have an interest in participating in a research project lasting for a total of six weeks during the summer break.

In the first instance, consideration will be given to students who have finished at least two years (48 units) of their degree at a standard acceptable level for admission to an Honors program. Students are required to make contact with a potential supervisor in order to confirm the availability of an appropriate research project.

About the Scholarship:

There is a public university in Adelaide that goes by the name The Institution of Adelaide. Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia, and it is located on the coast. In the year 1874, it was founded by Walter Watson Hughes, who was a copper miner as well as a benefactor to the community. The Adelaide Institution, which is the third-oldest institution in the country, held its first formal lecture in Latin in the year 1876. At that time, the Bachelor of Arts degree was the one that was being offered at the institution.

Dr. Augustus Short, a graduate of Oxford University and a former professor at Christ Church College, served as the university’s first vice-chancellor. Prior to that, he had held the position of professor at Christ Church College. Short put in a significant amount of work to ensure that the University of Adelaide was on the cutting edge of what was technologically feasible at the time. He accomplished this goal by differentiating the curriculum from the conventional Classics curriculum that was being taught at Oxford during that time by incorporating contemporary sciences, literature, art, and philosophy into the course of study. His dream came fulfilled in 1882, when the school became the first establishment in the entirety of Australia to offer degrees in the several scientific fields.

Currently, the institution’s goals include, among other things, “the discovery of new information,” “the pursuit of innovation,” and “the training of tomorrow’s educated leaders who are autonomous, creative thinkers with an international outlook.” It is a part of the Group of Eight, which is an association of Australia’s best schools that place a heavy emphasis on research, and it provides degrees in a total of five distinct faculties. The scientific faculty, the engineering faculty, the faculty of computer and mathematical sciences, the faculty of health sciences, and the faculty of arts are the five faculties that make up this institution. In addition to the 3,600 staff members and employees, the city of Adelaide is home to over 25,000 students, of which about 30 percent are international students hailing from over 100 different countries.

There are four campuses of the university located inside the state of South Australia, and thanks to a cooperation with the Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre, degree programs can also be pursued in Singapore. South Australia is home to the University of Adelaide. There are other options to participate in a study abroad program in a variety of countries, such as Hong Kong, France, the Netherlands, and others. These opportunities are available. The university has produced a number of notable alumni, including five Nobel laureates, 110 Rhodes scholars, and five people who have won the Nobel Prize. Notable alumni include Julia Gillard, the first female Prime Minister of Australia, and Robin Warren, a co-discoverer of the link between the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and peptic ulcers. The fact that the Adelaide squad is on track to make history is not only a source of satisfaction for them but also a source of motivation for them as they continue to work toward that goal.

Our employees have the opportunity to work together with peers of the highest caliber, to receive continual professional development, and to do their jobs in an environment that values and celebrates diversity. Our group is made up of students that come from over a hundred different countries all around the world. The majority of our faculty members are either of dual citizenship or were born in a nation other than the United States. If one were to believe the QS Graduate Employability Rankings for the year 2020, then Australia received the 2018 Award for Excellence in Research in Australia (the most current evaluation date). * Economist Intelligence Unit, 2021.

The academic curriculum of the university is organized into five faculties: the Faculty of Professions, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Mathematics, and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. The institution’s scientific research and academic pursuits are directed by the Faculty of Sciences, which is responsible for those activities. Students have the chance to select classes from a diverse range of subject matter that is pertinent to their areas of interest, and these faculties are composed of a number of different schools. The School of Civil Engineering, the School of Mining Engineering, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the School of Architecture, the School of Music, and the School of Physical Sciences are just few of the schools that may be found on this list. The educational establishment provides degree programs at all three levels, namely the graduate, the specialized doctoral, and the undergraduate levels. In addition to this, it makes it possible for students to participate in exchange programs with other schools in order to learn about the numerous academic paths that are open to them.
