The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation 2023 is pleased to announce the Kohl Excellence Scholarship Program for students.
Any graduating high school students who intend to enroll in a post-secondary institution, university, college, or vocational/technical school, are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
A Kohl Excellence Scholarship can only be used to directly reimburse tuition, room and board, books, technology, and fees for post-secondary education.

The goal of this Herb Kohl Excellence Scholarship plan is to recognize student leadership, citizenship, community and school involvement, and academic achievement.
The goal of the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation is to support Wisconsin children in pursuing post-secondary studies at a public or non-public university, college, or vocational/technical college. The Foundation annually awards $10,000 in scholarships to 100 Wisconsin high school graduates.
Level/field of study:
The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Educational Scholarship 2023 is available to high school students who intend to enroll in a post-secondary institution.
These institutions may be public or non-public universities, colleges, or vocational/technical colleges. The scholarship consists of;
- Public School Students: Must be graduating public high school students who are Wisconsin residents and intend to enroll in a post-secondary institution which may be a public or non-public university, college, or vocational/technical college.
- Religious and Independent School Students: Must be Wisconsin residents, graduate from a religious/independent high school, and intend to enroll in a post-secondary institution, which may be a public or private university, college, or vocational/technical college.
- Home-Educated Students: Must be home-schooled students who intend to enroll in a post-secondary institution, which may be a public or private college, university, or vocational/technical college.

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Excellence Scholarship 2023 is available to students who are citizens of the United States.

Eligibility:
To be considered eligible for the scholarship. The candidate meets the following requirements;
- Applicants must be graduating high school students who intend to enroll in a post-secondary institution, which may be a public or non-public university, college, or technical or vocational school.
- Students residing in the state of Wisconsin who are in good standing and who demonstrate probable success in post-secondary education are eligible to apply. This is a competitive scholarship.
- Eligibility is not limited by GPA, class rank, or any other status conferred by the school or program (eg, National Honor Society). Any student who meets the above eligibility criteria may apply.
- Students will be tested on their leadership, citizenship, school and community involvement, and academic achievement. In addition, students will be tested on their ability to clearly articulate goals in each of four areas: future educational goals, personal life goals, community/society service goals, and career goals.
- Each student must submit three letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation will be evaluated on how well they describe the student’s improvements, contributions, and successes. The letters can be from a teacher, counselor, or principal from the previous or current year.

Last application delivery date:
Public school students must submit their completed applications, including letters of recommendation, no later than November 5 at 5:00 pm Central Time.
Religious and independent school students and home school students must submit their completed applications, including letters of recommendation, by November 26 at 5:00 pm Central Time.
Applications submitted before the deadline date without the three required letters of recommendation are incomplete and will not be considered.
