Admission Requirements 

  • BEd degree or its equivalent, along with a minimum of a B- (70-72.9%) average in a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, or
  • Two years of professional or industrial experience, in addition to a minimum of a B- average in a Bachelor’s Honours degree or its equivalent, or
  • BEd degree, accompanied by a minimum of a mid-B (73-76.9%) average in a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

Important Admission Information for the International Students 

  • Completion of a four-year undergraduate degree program related to education with a minimum grade point average of “A” or 85% is required for non-Canadian applicants.
  • Two or more years of full-time professional experience in education is necessary for consideration.
  • Research interests should align with the core faculty research interests in the Faculty of Education. Applicants should clearly articulate this alignment in their online application.
  • Proficiency in English is a prerequisite for admission as English is the language of instruction and communication at Queen’s University. If English is not your first language or if you have not studied for at least one full year at an English-language post-secondary institution, you will need to provide satisfactory results from an English language proficiency test as part of the application process. Meeting this requirement is necessary for the completion of your application.

  • While there is no guaranteed minimum funding for MEd students, funding packages typically range from $7,000 to $10,000 per year for the first six terms of study.
  • Students who apply for and successfully secure a Graduate Teaching Fellowship, Teaching, and/or Research Assistantship can expect an average funding amount of approximately $10,000 per year, subject to eligibility.
